GOT7 JayB rumored to join IST Entertainment survival show as mentor, check out list of trainees
As the competition in K-pop keeps growing fiercer, different K-pop companies try one-upping their game to keep fans entertained and invested in the new groups and artists that make their debut in the industry. Now, as IST Entertainment, the label that manages Apink, The Boyz, and more plans on debuting a new K-pop boy group under the label, they have announced that the members for this boy group will be selected using the entertaining format of survival shows. Fans of such concepts have grown curious about the show and it is now rumored that GOT7’s JayB will join the show as a mentor while multiple trainees are already being revealed.
Over the last few years, the idea of broadcasting survival programs has taken the hype in K-pop and multiple boy groups that are formed via survival shows are gaining popularity in the genre of music. Over the last few years, groups like Monsta X, Seventeen, iKON, Enhypen, and most recently Kep1er and TAN, all were formed in survival shows that showed fans the journey of these idols from being trainees to undergoing the process of being faced with challenges and eliminations before making their big debut as K-pop idols.

IST Entertainment announced a survival show
As fans are currently enjoying the survival show format as K-pop groups make their debut, IST Entertainment, the label that manages girl groups like Apink and Weeekly as well as boy groups like The Boyz and Victon are now going to debut a new boy group. On February 8 it was announced that IST Entertainment will broadcast a new survival show that will help in the process of selecting new members for the upcoming K-pop group.
It has also been reported that the survival show is a joint project between Kakao Entertainment and Japan’s Sony Music Solutions, which is why fans can expect a survival show that is produced on a much grander scale. Korean Entertainment companies like MBN, Kakao TV, and 1theK will work in collaboration with IST Entertainment for this project.
List of rumored trainees and mentors
In their announcement, IST Entertainment reported that the survival show will include trainees that will be discovered via domestic as well as global auditions which means the group will have international trainees. This will be IST Entertainment’s first-ever K-pop group that will be formed after the merger of Play M Entertainment and Cre.ker Entertainment in November of 2021. It was also announced that well-known K-pop idols will join the show as mentors to train the upcoming idols and one name that is catching a lot of buzz is that of JayB from GOT7.

While more details about JayB’s official involvement in the show is not revealed, users on Twitter also revealed who the possible trainees will be. Spoilers released on fan accounts reveal that the IST Entertainment survival show that will air this month will include 12 trainees namely, Park Jaehoon, Yang Donchwa, Jeong Seunghwan, Ryu Junmin, Bae Hyunjun, Kim Minseo, Oh Junseok, Seok Rakwon, Kim Yeonkyu, Choi Jinwook, Won Bin, and Jeong Junho.
