Fans of the veteran group are finally getting what they wished for after almost four years. The K-pop group BIGBANG made its debut in 2006 but in 2018, the group went on an abrupt hiatus after the mandatory enlistments of each of the present four members of BIGBANG. The members of BIGBANG left their fans with a promise to return in Spring and now, three springs later, it is finally the time for fans of the group to rejoice as the ‘Fantastic Baby’ group has announced their big comeback after a hiatus of three years, 10 months.

BIGBANG last released their single, ‘Flower Road’ in March 2018 before going on a hiatus for an indefinite amount of time. The members of the group, mainly T.O.P and G.Dragon kept teasing fans with hopes of a group comeback and now YG Entertainment, the label that manages the group announced that they will make a comeback in the Spring 2022. But fans of 2NE1, a former girl group with YG Entertainment are pointing out how the label is trying to repeat history with BIGBANG as they did before 2NE1 disbanded after releasing their comeback single, ‘Goodbye’.

Now as only four members, namely with T.O.P, Taeyang, G.Dragon, and Daesung, the boy group BIGBANG is going to return with a band as the label announced that the members of the group were going to release a new single in Spring this year. They also announced that the group has completed recording the new song and are currently preparing for the music video shoot for the same.

With their last released single, ‘Flower Road’, BIGBANG made a promise to meet fans again when the flowers bloom, and just as they said in their promise, the group members are meeting fans in Spring, four years later as more mature men. 2022 marks the 17th year of BIGBANG, being the legends of K-pop as they are, they are known for hits like, ‘Lie’, ‘Haru Haru’, ‘Last Farwell’ as well as the viral hits, ‘Bang Bang Bang’ and ‘Fantastic Baby’.

Is T.O.P leaving BIGBANG?

While YG Entertainment revealed that the upcoming comeback single from BIGBANG will have all the members of the group participate in the making of the song, including writing lyrics, composition of the track, and more due to their expertise in the area of music. It was also reported that this comeback with BIGBANG will be member T.O.P’s last comeback under the label, YG Entertainment.

YGE revealed that T.O.P is soon going to end his contract with the label and will start his solo career taking on various challenges as an artist as well as an entrepreneur. While T.O.P has said nothing about the disbandment of BIGBANG, sources suggest that he will try to work on future BIGBANG projects whenever possible hinting that he is in fact, not leaving the group. While addressing T.O.P’s decision YG Entertainment said, “We respect TOP's opinion that he wants to expand his personal activities.”

'Imma prepare box of tissue'

Now as YGE announced a BIGBANG comeback with one single, fans are starting to put two and two together, pointing out how it is eerily similar to the way 2NE1 disbanded back in 2017 after they released their comeback single ‘Goodbye’. One fan put it into words saying, ‘VIPS better prepare your heart. I mean I've seen this before. That comeback news but only one song. Does it reminds you of the way YG did 2NE1 last comeback news. Only for us to know its "Goodbye" You've been warned. If that news is really true. Imma prepare box of tissue.”

Another fan said, “Me when i catch those who are wishing for bigbang to disband and making bullsh*t theories about what will gonna happen next.” One more fan pointed out, “I’m so excited about this comeback but idk, it feels like after the cb, they will disband,,, and that’s something i’m not ready for.” Another fan said, “I don't think they'd say TOP will participate in future Bigbang activities when able, if they planned to disband after this comeback. It seems like they plan to start promoting more.”
