'The Voice' Season 25 fans slam Dan + Shay as Anya True gets eliminated right before live round

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Anya True decided to perform 'All Too Well (Taylor's Version)' during the April 22 episode of 'The Voice' Season 25 because it brings back memories of her childhood and the things she would miss when she becomes an adult in the next year. Fans were upset, though, as she was unable to advance to the live performance round. 

Saweetie encouraged Anya to talk more boldly about her art form and emphasized to her that maintaining eye contact would be crucial to the performance.

The choice of which three of their performers will move on to the live performances was made first by Dan + Shay. After the Playoff round, they decided on Madison Curbelo, Karen Waldrup, and Tae Lewis, forcing Anya to return home.

On X, fans wrote, "BOOOOOO OLIVIA AND ANYA WERE ROBBED!!!! Of course the pick two country artists." One user asked, "So disappointed with Dan + Shay’s picks. Really both country artists over someone as unique as Anya???"

One fan further tweeted, "NAW ANYA SHOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH." A fourth viewer wrote, "karen over anya or olivia is SICK."

On Reddit, fans wrote, "I am very sad about Anya." On Instagram, fans too wrote, "Anya, you deserved to go to lives. You were the best in the competition."

Chance the Rapper surprised by Anya True's song pick on 'The Voice' Season 25

John Legend thought it was a nice decision since it still has country tones, but Chance the Rapper was astonished that she selected a pop song because he never envisioned her in that genre.

Reba McEntire appreciated it even if she couldn't understand all the phrases because she could tell that she was "really into it." Shay Mooney said that he liked the sharpness in her voice, while Dan Smyers was relieved that he didn't feel like she was performing like Taylor Swift.

Who made it to the Live Shows on 'The Voice' Season 25?

Mafe and Kamalei Kawa'a, who were stolen by Team Legend during the Knockout stages, have been eliminated, while Team Legend vocalists Nathan Chester, Zoe Levert, and Bryan Olesen—who was awarded a playoff pass—are all moving on to the next round of play.

Regarding Team Dan + Shay, Anya and Olivia Rubini (stolen from Team Legend) are returning home, while Madison (receiver of a Playoff Pass), Karen, and Tae (stolen from Team Reba) will advance to the Lives.

'The Voice' Season 25 airs on NBC at 8 pm on Mondays and 9 pm on Tuesdays. The episodes will be available on Peacock on demand the next day. The streaming site also includes entire episodes from the show's prior seasons.
