LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift is one of the greatest musicians of this generation and her credentials are a testament to her success. She has ruled the charts and recently became the first artist ever to claim the entire Top 10 on Billboard Top 100. However, the musician is now ready to take a new path in her professional career by donning the director’s hat for the first time ever. Yes, you heard it right. Swift will be trying her luck in the field of direction and will be backed by some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

The singer-songwriter was last seen making an appearance in the movie ‘Amsterdam’, where she played the role of Elizabeth Meekins. Meanwhile, in 2019, she made her acting debut in feature films with ‘Cats’. Unfortunately, both movies turned out to be box office failures and were panned by critics as well. However, she recently won two Best Direction awards at the 2022 VMA Awards for her work on ‘The Man’ and ‘All Too Well: The Short Film’, becoming the first solo artist to achieve that monumental feat and now will be trying her luck to make a full feature-length movie.

According to Variety, the musician has written an original script, which will be produced by Searchlight Pictures that has recently won Oscars for ‘The Shape of Water’ and ‘Nomadland’. The production house is really happy to have the ‘Midnights’ creator on board for the movie. Searchlight Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield shared a statement after the announcement, saying it’s a “privilege” to work with her.

“Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller.  It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey,” the statement read.

The singer-songwriter recently took the world by storm with her new album ‘Midnights’ and has already sold more than 2 million units in the United States. The album made four world records after its release and became the most-streamed album on Spotify in the first 24 hours.

Swift donning the director’s hat might open doors for other musicians to try their hands at directing. She has conquered all the charts in music and it will be interesting to see if the movie will be a musical or of any other genre. As of now, all the other details have been kept under wraps and there’s no news of who will be starring in the movie.
