LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Laverne Cox, the presenter at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, faced criticism for consistently mispronouncing names during the event.

Fans on the red carpet also expressed discontent, particularly for Cox's questions, prompting some to suggest bringing back "Fashion Police" host Ziwe Fumudoh as a presenter instead.

The online backlash highlighted concerns about Cox's approach, with viewers urging for a change in the hosting dynamic.

Cox's mispronunciation of Hannah Waddingham's name, initially as "Waddington" and later as "Wattingham," created an uncomfortable moment during the Emmy Awards.

The awkwardness was further exacerbated by Cox's apparent lack of awareness that 'Ted Lasso' was concluding its last season, adding insult to injury for fans of the show.

Viewers expressed their discomfort with the mispronunciations and noted the disconnect regarding the show's status.

"Very uncomfortable watching Laverne Cox butcher Hannah Waddingham's name. First, it was 'Waddington' and then it was 'Wattingham.' Adding insult to injury it doesn't seem she knows this was Ted Lasso's last season," a fan wrote on Twitter.

"Each interview is more painful than the one before," added another.

"tbh i can't stand laverne and these questions," said one fan.

"Take a shot every time Laverne says 'iconic' or mispronounces someone's name #Emmy game. Please bring back #FashionPolice with @ziwe as host," suggested another.

"Laverne Cox is fanning out on the red carpet. Imma need her to relax and breathe to get through these interviews lol," said another.

What did Laverne Cox say that was censored at the Emmys?

In the 2020 Emmy Awards, a segment of Laverne Cox's speech was censored.

During the presentation, Cox's full line was "presenting an award to someone who probably didn't effing vote for me." The use of the word "effing" was bleeped out on broadcast television.

However, it remains unclear whether Cox went off-script, especially considering she had lost her fourth Emmy earlier in the evening.

The bleeped moment added an unexpected twist to the broadcast, making it a moment of controversy.
