LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: For fans of the iconic spy action-thriller franchise ‘Mission: Impossible', there’s great news! The latest update on the upcoming movies in the lineup is that British actress Hannah Waddingham has joined the cast for the second installment of 'Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning'. The ‘Ted Lasso’ actress, who will be coming back to the show for Season 3, has been roped in to play a role in the film alongside Tom Cruise, which is slated for a theatrical release next summer.

The announcement was made by Christopher McQuarrie, who is helming both the ‘Dead Reckoning’ movies. He took to Instagram on Friday night to announce the arrival of the star in the movie, with a photo of her character and the caption, “And Hannah Waddingham… #Godspeed #DeadReckoning.” Waddingham, who has previously starred on HBO’s 'Game of Thrones', had her big career break when she became part of 'Ted Lasso', starring Jason Sudeikis. She will join the ‘Mission: Impossible’ cast regulars Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ving Rhames. Waddingham will also be part of the team hosting the Eurovision song contest, all set to take place in Liverpool, between May 9 and 13.

‘Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1’: What’s special?

With the success of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and the unwaveringly successful legacy that the ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies have, Tom Cruise is on an all-time high. But what is special about ‘Dead Reckoning Part 1', is that not only does it have Cruise performing death-defying stunts (as is his usual style), but the film also welcomes back Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge, the iconic IMF director character from the first ever movie. The character is beloved for his famous scene with Cruise’s Ethan Hunt when the latter says to the former, “Kittridge, you’ve never seen me very upset.”

‘Such an inspiration’

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actress Pom Klementieff, who also stars in ‘Dead Reckoning Part One', opened up on the surreal experience of getting to work with Cruise on the iconic movie franchise. In an interview with Collider, the actress said, “Oh, he's incredible to work with. He's so thoughtful, powerful to see, he's so kind and so generous, and he's such an inspiration. He just pushes himself, always challenges himself and yeah, he's always a constant inspiration."
