The plot revolves around Park Dong-Ho (Sol Kyung-gu), a resolute Prime Minister who is committed to cleaning up South Korea's political landscape by deposing corrupt President Jang Il-jun (Kim Hong-pa), who colludes with wealthy corporations known as chaebol.

However, his plan is jeopardized by Jung Soo-Jin (Kim Hee-ae), the Deputy Prime Minister who stands in Park's path.

Their conflict promises to be a high-stakes political battle involving backroom deals, media manipulation, and a struggle for absolute power.

The synopsis of 'The Whirlwind' reads, "Prime Minister Park Dong Ho battles a corrupt president colluding with chaebols. Deputy PM Jung Soo Jin confronts him, sparking a fierce political struggle to change South Korea's politics."

Sol Kyung-gu, a prominent South Korean actor, will play Prime Minister Park Dong-ho in the drama.

Born on May 14, 1967, Kyung-gu's acting career began on stage, where he captivated audiences with high-profile performances such as in the Korean rendition of the rock musical 'Subway Line 1.'

In 2002, Kyung-gu found success with the movie 'Public Enemy' franchise, portraying characters with depth and complexity.

He has also received the coveted Grand Bell Award and the Baeksang Arts Award Grand Prize, firmly establishing himself as one of Korea's most recognized performers.

His talent shone through in critically acclaimed films such as 'Peppermint Candy,' 'Silmido,' 'Memoir of a Murderer,' 'Cold Eyes' and 'Oasis,' where he captured audiences with his emotional range.

Kim Hee-ae, a South Korean actress, portrays Jeong Su-jin in the show. Born on Jeju Island, South Korea, Hee-ae received her first modeling job for a school uniform ad in 1982, after being discovered by a teacher's sister.

She made her acting debut in 1983 with the film 'The First Day of the Twentieth Year' and her television debut on KBS in 1986. She rose to prominence for her acting abilities in 2003 with the drama 'Wife.'

She then gained further recognition for her acting credits in several productions including, 'The World of the Married,' 'Secret Affair,' 'Sisters Over Flowers' and 'Mrs. Cop,' among others.

Kim Mi-sook, a veteran South Korean actress, will play Choi Yeon-sook in the show.

Mi-sook, who was born on March 26, 1959,  began her artistic career in 1979 with her debut in the South Korean entertainment scene.

Mi-sook received great recognition for her role as a supporting mother in the 2005 film 'Marathon.'

She also actively contributes to society through her philanthropic efforts, having founded 'Love Kindergarten' in 1987 and served as its director until 2002.

Mi-sook is also a co-founder of the artist group 'Hyangmihoe,'' which reflects her commitment to encouraging artistic expression and collaboration.

Her significant acting credits include 'The Flower in Prison,' 'Little Women,' 'City Hunter,' 'Happiness in the Wind,' and 'Empire of Gold,' among others.
