Korean drama 'The World of The Married' must be on your watch list because the show has broken the record set by 'Sky Castle' in 2019. Incidentally, both shows belong to the JTBC network, which was also the network that aired Park Seo-joon's recent successful drama 'Itaewon Class'.

On May 2, 'The World of the Married' set the new record for the highest viewership ratings ever achieved by a Korean show.

The show hit a 24.33 percent viewership nationwide, breaking the previous record of 23.78 percent set by the finale of JTBC's show 'Sky Castle' back in 2019.

While this record is the highest set by a Korean Drama, the only show to have a higher rating than this is the popular audition program telecast on TV Chosun’s called 'Mister Trot'. This show peaked at an average rating of 35.7 percent in March.

'The World of the Married' is a remake of the popular British show 'Doctor Foster', a BBC One drama series that follows the life of Gemma Foster who is suspicious of her husband. The show is said to be inspired by the myth of Medea and the Korean show also follows a similar plotline.

In the show, Ji Sun-woo (Kim Hee-Ae) is a family medicine doctor, who is married to Lee Tae-oh (Park Hae-Joon) and they have a son. She has a successful career and a happy family, but Lee Tae-Oh dreams of becoming a famous movie director and falls into a dangerous relationship.

This relationship is the reason why Sun-woo and Tae-oh's life falls apart. The show has four episodes left before it concludes and fans have closely been following the plotline of how the lives of these characters will turn out.

Especially considering Episode 12 ended on a cliffhanger. The tense relationship between Sun-woo and Tae-oh is only bound to escalating and with such heavy tension brewing in the show, all that fans want to know is how Sun-woo and Tae-oh will end up.

Following this cliffhanger ending, promo stills of the upcoming episode were released recently giving viewers a sneak peek of the tense episode. It looks like more than one conflict will come to a head in the episode.

In the newly released stills, Sun-woo has a fierce, determined glint in her eye as she braces herself for a new battle while Tae-oh looks distraught as he stares at something outdoors. It looks like Tae-oh is also having trouble with his new wife Yeo Da-kyung who seems scared in the promo stills that were released.

Following the record-breaking viewership, the producers of the show said, "All of the characters, including Ji Sun-woo and Lee Tae-oh, will face off in tense mind games as they stand at the edge of a cliff [in the upcoming episode]. The stark truth of their relationships and emotions will come to light."

They also teased, "Please keep an eye on Ji Sun-woo's next move as she ends up facing an unexpected danger."
