The original 'My Spy' starred Dave Bautista as JJ, a CIA operative caught spying by a young girl named Sophie (Chloe Coleman).

Blackmailed into teaching Sophie how to be a secret agent, their comedic battle of wits formed the heart of the film. Despite the potential for a sequel, critics were harsh, giving it a low 48% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Financially, it struggled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with theaters closed globally. Amazon acquired the rights and released it directly to streaming. Now, the sequel aims to turn the overlooked action-comedy into a franchise.

Former US Special Forces soldier JJ (Dave Bautista) joined the CIA but failed his first mission to stop an illegal plutonium trade in Pripyat.

Assigned to watch over the family of arms dealer Victor Marquez, JJ moved in near Kate (Parisa Fitz-Henley) and her daughter Sophie (Chloe Coleman) in Chicago.

Sophie discovered JJ's surveillance and forced him to teach her spy skills while they bonded. When Victor threatened them for stolen bomb plans, JJ and Kate stopped him, saving Sophie and the plans.

JJ was reinstated and moved in with Kate and Sophie, becoming a close-knit family in Chicago.
