'We'll miss you': Fans heartbroken over Anna Torv's Tess' death in HBO's 'The Last of Us'

'I knew this was coming but i still wasn't prepared for it,' said a fan

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Anna Torv has stolen hearts within just two episodes of HBO's 'The Last of Us.' Anna Torv is known for her roles as Olivia Dunham on the Fox science fiction series 'Fringe' (2008–2013), and Wendy Carr in the Netflix crime thriller series 'Mindhunter.' In the game and the HBO series, Theresa "Tess" Servopoulos is a supporting character in 'The Last of Us.' A hardened survivor, she was the long-term smuggling partner of Joel Miller. The pair made their living as smugglers in Boston, where they traded with survivors outside of the city. She had a "dog-eat-dog" philosophy, similar to Joel and Ellie.

Although fans were used to the concept of Tess' death in the game but they were still taken aback when they saw Anna Torv's Tess' death in the second episode of the Pedro Pascal starring HBO series. The series is based on the 2013 video game developed by Naughty Dog, the series is set twenty years after a mass fungal infection sparked a global pandemic and follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting the teenage Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic state of the country.

At the conclusion of Episode 2 of 'The Last of Us,' Tess, who is portrayed by Anna Torv in the series, sacrificed herself so that Joel and Ellie could escape and continue on their journey. Earlier in the episode, Tess was bitten by a Clicker during an encounter that the trio had with a group of Infected. Knowing that she would soon turn into an Infected creature herself, Tess chose to take down a horde of monsters with her in a fiery explosion. Not long after Tess ended up dying in 'The Last of Us,' social media filled up with responses from fans talking about how the moment impacted them. Most fans expressed that the final scene was incredibly well done, while others praised Torv's performance. 

A fan said, “save who you can save hats off to anna torv’s tess for leaving such an impact in just two episodes. we’ll miss you, queen." A fan wrote, "TESS THE REAL MVP OF THIS EPISODE WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU MOTHER," while another shared, "they did tess so dirty with that infected kiss, so unnecessary." A fan commented, "THEY MADE TESS' DEATH EVEN SADDER WHAT THE HELL HBO Anna Torv performance was heartbreaking." A fan tweeted, "Me having to sit through the trauma of Tess revealing her bite for the 10th time and now having to watch a fungus tentacle freak snog her while she blows herself up," while another fan added, "i knew this was coming but i still wasn't prepared for it."

Safe to say, fans are pretty disheartened about it. 'The Last of Us' is airs every Monday on HBO or stream on HBO Max.
