‘Great Seoul Invasion’: Airdate, how to watch and about band survival show starring Eunbi
Now that K-pop has established itself as a global phenomenon, it is time for the other niche genres in South Korea’s music scene to make themselves known. We already have Mnet being responsible for some of the major survival shows like the iconic ‘Show Me The Money’ and ‘High School Rapper’ for the K-hip hop industry. Meanwhile, ‘Street Woman Fighter’ was the first-ever survival show for Korean all-female dance crews that was an immense hit. Well, now Mnet has launched ‘Great Seoul Invasion’, a survival show for Korean bands.
With groups taking up most of the spotlight thanks to K-pop, Korean bands are not yet on the same level as their idol counterparts. And so, Mnet is providing a global platform for bands with ‘Great Seoul Invasion’. The winning band will win a prize of 100 million won ($78.6K), a recording studio and other benefits like an album release deal. We have the likes of Kwon Eunbi teaming up with Mnet for the show while some of the participants are already popular like ONEWE and Surl. While the exact date hasn’t been revealed yet, Mnet has shared that the ‘Great Seoul Invasion’ will air in June.

On May 6, it was announced that Kwon Eunbi would be making a regular appearance and performing on the band survival show with many speculating that she might be one of the MCs. This will be her second competitive show as she had previously participated in Mnet’s ‘Produce 48’ in 2018. She had been one of the winners and had gone on to debut in IZ*ONE as the leader.
Participants
In the preliminary round, the audition clips of all of the bands that have signed up for 'Great Seoul Invasion' were shared on Mnet TV’s YouTube channel. The bands to make it on to the show will also depend on fans as the bands with the most-viewed audition clips between April 20 and 24 will be considered. Some of the notable participants that have auditioned are 1/N, Catch the young, Lacuna, The Midnight Romance, ONEWE, South Club, Surl and Walking After U.
