LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Wondering what went wrong with 'Wonder Woman 3'? Earlier this week, DC Studios confirmed that they will not be moving forward with the Gal Gadot starrer DC project which came as a big shocker to all the DC fans. The third installment in the superhero saga is the latest DC project to be scrapped after 'Batgirl' was shelved following the merger between Warner Bros and Discovery, which has resulted in mass layoffs and a controversial creative overhaul, as per reports.

According to The Wrap, it's now been reported that the Gal Gadot starrer was scrapped after Patty Jenkins, the director of the first two 'Wonder Woman' movies, rejected the studio's notes on her treatment of the script for the sequel which led to her exiting the project. Several projects are being further reviewed after James Gunn and Peter Safran became the co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios. Their plan, which is currently still in flux, will serve as the blueprint for what DC will become, possibly introducing a completely new vision for the franchise. Unfortunately, 'Wonder Woman 3' is not included in their vision as of now

Jason Momoa will STOP playing 'Aquaman' after 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom'

Apart from 'Wonder Woman 3', projects like the 'Black Adam' sequel and the highly anticipated 'Superman' movie can also be hanging by the thread due to Gunn's new vision. However, 'The Flash', along with 'Aquaman and 'Lost Kingdom', is still on the roll and all set to premiere in 2023 on the big screens near you. Nevertheless, one never knows what the future holds. Maybe like Cavill, Gadot may reprise her role of 'Wonder Woman' again.

Furthermore, Gunn partially disputed the previous reports on social media, tweeting, “Some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not.” “Peter & I chose to helm DC Studios knowing we were coming into a fractious environment, both in the stories being told & in the audience itself & there would be an unavoidable transitional period as we moved into telling a cohesive story across film, TV, animation, and gaming,” Gunn continued in a Twitter thread.

He further added, “But in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities & the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far & to help rectify what has not.”

Regardless, Gadot has gone on to achieve global stardom for her portrayal of Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe. She has starred as the Amazonian superhero in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' (2016), 'Wonder Woman' in 2017, and 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' in 2021. As of now, Gadot will play Wonder Woman in 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods', which is slated for release in 2023.
