Fans defend WJSN Dayoung as trolls compare her to anime Ao Oni post plastic surgery rumor

Cosmic Girls aka WJSN’s Dayoung was compared to deformed anime character Ao Oni after rumors suggested she underwent plastic surgery

Being a K-pop idol is not an easy job as nothing they do can satisfy bullies who try to bring famous personalities down as they hide behind anonymous handles. Over the past few years, trolls have gotten more fearless as they continue to bully celebrities. Many K-pop agencies have released statements announcing they are taking legal action against trolls but it seems like bullying K-pop idols has become a fad.

Mamamoo’s Hwasa caused an uproar after her statement about malicious commenters stuck with fans as she said, “It seems like they will only stop once I die,” which shows how much of a hard time some idols are having because bullies won’t leave them alone. Now, WJSN’s Dayoung has become the latest female idol to be trolled for plastic surgery which she may have not got in the first place.

WJSN Dayoung trolled for alleged plastic surgery

As the second-gen girl group is currently a part of Mnet performance-based show ‘Queendom 2’, fans of K-pop are paying much more attention to Cosmic Girls aka WJSN. In a way to greet fans after the emotional first episode of the variety show, WJSN’s leader Exy and member Dayoung were seen on VLive on April 1 night.

Fans loved the antics of the duo but trolls had their attention on something else. Users started commenting about Dayoung’s facial appearance and pointed out how it seemed like she had just undergone plastic surgery.

Trolls also said that Dayoung looked like she was fresh out of surgery which is why her face looked alarmingly different but one toxic user went so far as to compare Dayoung to an anime character - Ao Oni, who is known for having a deformed face. While it is true that plastic surgery or body modification is not something new for fans of the K-pop industry, it is always shocking for fans to see idols go under the knife. Other fans claimed that Dayoung looked just as she used to in the past and said the trolls were delusional for calling the idol out for nothing.

International fans of K-pop believe that these double standards from Knetz (Korean K-pop fans) is what leads to mental health issues amongst idols, which eventually lead them to to drastic life-threatening measures.

'Did someone call her Ao Oni?'

Fans of WJSN and Dayoung are appalled by the trolls that compared Dayoung to Ao Oni. One fan said, “Did i just see someone call her AO ONI?” One fan posted the original comment saying, “F**K YOU??????” One fan said, “OH NUMBER 6 IS FLYING STRAIGHT DOWN TO HELL.” A fan said, “No. 6 should post a photo of themselves and I bet its worse than that cartoon.” One fan said, “I actually gasped at #6???? My God…..I’d fight, idk.” One more fan said, “Comment #6 I’m under your bed.”

'Who cares? Leave her alone.'

Fans rushed to defend Dayoung as one said, “I know how disgusting these people are, they like to make fun of other people's faces to criticize each other...that's no different from crossing the line.” One more fan pointed out, “People claimed it was lip filler when it was actually overly drawn lipstick she looks exactly the same except that she lost weight and hit through puberty.” Another fan said, “Idols dye they hair once and now everybody running of south korean internet is a plastic surgeon specialist.”

One fan said, “Absolutely nothing wrong with her appears besides let’s take a screenshot photo of someone clearly eating and speaking and claim they look different.” One fan asked, “Who cares? Leave her alone.” One more fan said, “Leave the kid alone. She's suffering from an auto-immune disease and she don't your petty comments.” Another fan said, “Idk what they talkin about she looks soooooooooooo pretty to me.” One more fan said, “But wjsn esp dayoung always busy with individual activities tho, not to mention they often post photo through pm, i don't think there's time for her to do big plastic surgery. the only thing that she admit in 2019 was doing lip filler which is fine tbh.”
