Is WJSN Dawon OK? Singer announces indefinite hiatus to focus on mental health
Only a day after the news broke that the third-gen girl group WJSN will join the upcoming season of Mnet’s performance-based variety show, ‘Queendom 2’, Starship Entertainment announced that Dawon, a member of WJSN (also known as Cosmic Girls) will take a break from her idol duties. On the evening of February 22, it was reported that WJSN’s Dawon had been diagnosed with anxiety disorder and would like to focus on her health and recovery in the days to come.
In their official statement, Starship Entertainment announced that Dawon will be going on an indefinite hiatus as she focuses on her mental health. Dawon is part of Cosmic Girls’ Natural Subunit. Being the main vocal of the group, fans are concerned about the success of the group on the Mnet survival show as there is a huge possibility that Dawon will still be on hiatus when the show starts shooting their episodes.

WJSN Dawon diagnosed with anxiety disorder
In their official statement, Starship Entertainment announced that Dawon, who has been diagnosed with anxiety disorder in the past, has currently started experiencing more mental health complications related to her condition. Both the label as well as the medical health professionals involved are aiding Dawon’s recovery as she undergoes the prescribed treatment.
After a discussion with Dawon as well as the medical professionals involved, it was established that in order for the WJSN member to get back to full health, she requires sufficient rest and stability. As the group moves on to a more complicated and exhausting schedule with the lineup of their future activities, it would have been impossible for Dawon to get the rest that she needs.
The label also announced that based on the opinions of specialized medical institutions, and after consulting with Dawon herself, the label decided to suspend all activities for the benefit of her health and recovery. The end date of her hiatus has not been revealed, which means Dawon will only come back after receiving an all-clear from her medical team, no matter how long it takes, making this an indefinite hiatus.
