Spoilers for 'Elsbeth' Episode 1

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The latest police procedural drama on the block, 'Elsbeth' follows the story of Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston), an autistic and sharp-witted attorney.

The brainchild of 'The Good Wife' creators Robert King and Michelle King, the series has been making noise for all the right reasons since the premiere of its pilot episode on February 29.

The first episode of the series introduced the titular character, Elsbeth, who has relocated to New York to join the NYPD.

The observant Attoreny, who at first was met with scepticism from her fellow team members, left them impressed after she uncovered a complex murder mystery.

The first episode of the series introduced Elsbeth, who had bid farewell to her successful attorney career in Chicago and joined the NYPD as a consent decree.

Elsbeth's eccentricity, however, irks her peers, particularly Detective Smullen (Danny Mastrogiorgio), when she interferes with the probe into Olivia Cherry's (Alex Costello) death.

Due to Elsbeth's cunning, she concluded that Olivia must have been killed because, shortly before her death, she had undergone teeth whitening—unusual for a suicide suspect.

She also discovered men's deodorant Old Irish in her bathroom cabinet, indicating that the girl was dating someone.

Her deductions, however, fell on deaf ears when Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce) told her to mind her own business rather than interfering with the investigation.

Elsbeth pursues Olivia's acting school director, Alex Modarianher (Stephen Moyer), as she suspects something is awry.

Elsbeth enlists officer Kaya Blanke (Carra Patterson) to help her discover the truth since she is convinced there is more going on than meets the eye.

The ladies discovered that there were identical double spaces in Alex's syllabus and the texts Oliva wrote to her friends prior to taking her own life, indicating that they were authored by the same person.

They also spoke with Alex's former students and discovered that he was, in fact, sleeping with them in exchange for the juicy roles in the theatre productions.

However, shrewd Alex deflects the doubts tossed at him to his student Todd, but Elsbeth was still positive about Alex's role in the case.

Ultimately, Elsbeth, assisted by the NYPD squad, successfully apprehends Alex as he attempts to further implicate Todd by putting a SIM cloning device into his bag.

In response to Alex's question about how she knew he was the one who killed Olivia, Elsbeth once again demonstrated her acute observational skills by stating that he was acting in a way that ordinary people wouldn't.

'Elsbeth' episode 1 is now streaming on Paramount+
