As expected, Marvel dropped a new trailer for 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' at the Super Bowl LVI, and it did not disappoint. FIlled with easter eggs pointing to a large number of cameos, the trailer has fans delighted and thrilled for the upcoming horror flick. One of those rumored cameos is Tom Cruise, as 'Superior Iron Man', which many users think they spotted in the new trailer.

We got our first look at the Sam Raimi film when Marvel attached the first trailer to 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' back in December 2021. While it didn't reveal much, the trailer certainly got fans talking. In contrast, trailer two has given us a lot more to look at, including the return of Chiwetel Ejiofor's Baron Mordo, and what appears to be Patrick Stewart's Professor X. There are also plenty of other cameos leaked, from Captain Carter to Zombie Strange, and even Captain Marvel.

For now, though, social media seems to be fixated on the possible cameo by 'Mission: Impossible' star Cruise, who is widely rumored to appear in the film as a variant of Iron Man. If you haven't caught the hints in the trailer, here they are. Warning: spoilers ahead!

Is Tom Cruise in 'Multiverse of Madness'?

Die-hard fans will remember that Cruise was nearly cast as Tony Start way back in 2006, for the original 'Iron Man' movie that kickstarted the Marve Cinematic Universe. While that never happened, it appears Kevin Feige has decided to give fans a look at what Cruise could have been, in the upcoming Doctor Strange movie. Earlier, we saw set leaks showing Cruise in a motion-capture suit, indicating he was likely to appear in the movie, but now we may have our first confirmation of those leaks.

The first, and rather obvious hint of Superior Iron Man comes about a minute into the trailer when a handcuffed Strange is led into a mysterious room surrounded by robots. The robots closely resemble those from 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', indicating that there's definitely a Tony Stark in the film. The scene is believed to be the movie debut of Marvel's Illuminati, which also features Professor X. Given we heard and nearly saw Stewart's Charles Xavier, it's not hard to imagine Cruise's Superior Iron Man also featuring in the scene.

The second, and less likely hint comes a bit later when a glowing orange figure emerges from the rubble to slam into Wanda Maximoff. Many users speculated that the figure is none other than Cruise's Superior Iron Man, which certainly looks possible when the frame is frozen. The figure does appear to have Stark's famous beard, but it's not clear enough to say for sure whether it is indeed Cruise. It's also possible that the character is a version of Captain Marvel or even America Chavez, but as this eagle-eyed Twitter user noted, "That looks like Tom Cruise! It’s Superior Iron Man!"

Other reactions included, "tom cruise is yes or yes playing iron man in this movie 'cause who else could've built those ultron bots," and "So my thinking is that Tom Cruise’s will be Superior Iron Man, one who managed to perfect the Ultron program and has it under his control." One excited user tweeted, "THIS IS TOM CRUISE. THIS IS SUPERIOR IRON MAN. THIS IS HIM MY HEAD IM SWEATING RN."

If it is indeed Cruise, then fans could be in for a real treat. The action star hasn't been seen on screen since 2018's 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout', with both the sequel and 'Top Gun: Maverick' delayed multiple times due to the pandemic. 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' opens May 6, 2022.
