While there is a long wait left before the movie can release, here's everything you need to know about the forthcoming sequel 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.'

A lot of new treats were released for fans at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con and top of the list was Marvel Studios. Using the opportunity to surprise fans, they announced that a 'Doctor Strange' sequel will be next in line in its phase of movies.

During the Hall H presentation at SDCC 2019, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed that 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' is the full title of the sequel and confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will be returning alongside director Scott Derrickson. 

While there is a long wait for the movie's release, here's everything you need to know about the forthcoming sequel: 

Release Date 

Marvel's 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' is set to release in theatres on May 7, 2021. 

Plot 

Marvel Studios' 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' is an upcoming superhero movie. The movie is based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. It is a sequel to 'Doctor Strange' and 'Avengers: Endgame'. The movie is also a crossover/sequel to WandaVision. Scheduled to release in 2021, the sequel is the 27th installment in the MCU and the fourth installment of Phase Four. 

Cast 

During SDCC 2019, it was revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the role of Doctor Strange, will be returning to his character.

We also know that Elizabeth Olsen who plays the role of Scarlet Witch will have a major role in the film.

Director

Scott Derrickson

During SDCC 2019, Feige unveiled that Scott Derrickson will be returning as director to helm the movie. Derrickson is a film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for directing the horror film 'Sinister'. He became a household name after he directed Marvel Cinematic Universe's 'Doctor Strange'.
