'Dancing With Myself': Judges Shakira, Nick Jonas and Liza Koshy impress fans with their fun banter

The new NBC dancing reality show, 'Dancing With Myself,' has a new set of judges, which has fans excited

NBC's newest dance series, 'Dancing With Myself,' has officially premiered, and fans are adoring the judges, er, the Creators. This series tackles the narrative that anybody can enjoy learning a new dance.

With a new season on the horizon, it's always exciting to see who is on the panel for the first time. Three celebrity judges and one host appear in 'Dancing With Myself.' Shakira, the series' originator, also serves on the judging panel this season. Contestants are expected to recreate the dance requested by the judges. This unique concept appeared to be a success with viewers, as many flocked to social media to share their thoughts on the show.

Shakira

Shakira, a Colombian singer, debuted in the Latin music industry at the age of 13 and has since grown enormously successful. She originally established her name in the Latin music industry, then learned English in 2001 to make her first crossover album, Laundry Service, which retailed over 200,000 copies in its first week. Shakira's prominence in the Northern American market was cemented with this album. Her 2005 albums Fijación Oral, Volumen Uno, and Oral Fixation, Vol 2 had some of her most successful songs in the United States. Shakira produced the 'Dancing With Myself' series in response to the popularity of TikTok dance challenges. She got the idea for the series after seeing over 221,000 videos made with her song 'Girl Like Me.'

The singer has previously featured on 'The Voice' as a coach. The Creator got to show off her dance talents on the first episode of the program as part of one of the assignments in which participants had to mimic her choreography to advance in the competition. She not only danced her heart out to her song, 'Don't Wait Up,' but she also commended the participants for their performances.

Fans were so moved by the friendship between the Creators and the finalists that they turned to social media to express their feelings: "I knew the min I saw this, it was gonna be an amazing show! Such a smart & interesting idea! The chemistry on the show between @shakira @nickjonas @lizakoshy is The vibes in the audience are you can’t help but smile the entire time! 10/10 will watch again #DancingWithMyself"

Another fan wrote: "One of the reasons, why I watched Dancing with myself it's because of the one and only Queen of Latin Music @shakira. She brought fun and excitement on the show and showcase her talent in dancing. EP1 is on fire and I can't wait for next episodes. #DancingWithMyself"

Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas is no stranger to an NBC judging panel; in 2020, he became a coach on 'The Voice.' Despite coaching participants in only two seasons (Seasons 18 and 20), he brought two artists to the finals. His first artist, Thunderstorm Artis, finished third, and his second, Rachel Mac, finished fourth. Jonas began performing on Broadway when he was eight years old and recorded his debut song in 2002. He rose to prominence as a member of the popular boy band The Jonas Brothers. This quartet swiftly rose to prominence and became household names on the Disney Channel. They were prominently featured in the successful films 'Camp Rock' and 'Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.' Jonas has tasted success as a solo performer, band member, and actor. Throughout his career, he has appeared in several Broadway productions. Now he's back as a judge/creator, where he usually compliments the participants for their performance and looks for the most amusing contestant to focus on. In the season premiere, he didn't hide his fondness for 52-year-old TikTok star Marco Hurtado. The two bonded over their shared passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while entertaining others. A fan wrote about this bond on Twitter: "Nick and Marco are adorable. You just know that Nick sees himself in him when he dances #DancingWithMyself #NickJonas"

He even swayed alongside Shakira when she boasted about how they were in sync, similar to Marcus and Smac's performance. A fan posted a video of the moment on Twitter, writing: "To the right, to the left #DancingWithMyself #Shakira #LizaKoshy #NickJonas"

Another fan couldn't help but notice his expression every time a dancer did something unexpected, as the fan wrote: "I love Nick’s facial expressions! #DancingWithMyself"

Liza Koshy

Liza Koshy also serves as a judge on the reality show 'Dancing With Myself.' She rose to prominence as a Vine comedian. In 2016, her popularity on the short video app led her to YouTube. She immediately became well-known on the platform due to her memorable facial expressions, fast speed, and general silliness. In the present day, her channel has over 17 million members. Her channel's genre is humor, although she occasionally addresses serious themes such as anxiety or peer pressure. She's a natural for the judging job on 'Dancing With Myself,' having started dancing at the age of four. She began learning tap, jazz, and ballet as a kid and later joined her high school dance team. Koshy is mostly a social media sensation, but she has also had acting and hosting gigs. She also choreographed the dance for the 'Duo Collabs' round alongside the show's presenter, Camille Kostek, for her first attempt at being the Creator. Speaking of her choreography, fans were amused by how fast the contestants had to pick the choreography shown by the Creators, to which one wrote: "I can't even pick up choreography after seeing it once #DancingWithMyself"
