'Best dancer ever': Shakira wows fans as she makes reality TV comeback with 'Dancing With Myself'

Dance challenges have been popular on social media, particularly in the last two years, and a new program, 'Dancing with Myself,' is bringing some of those challenges to NBC. Contestants are secluded in their pods for a brief period to learn the new routines, add their flair, and then dance their hearts out in front of a live studio audience. The show's concept — groups of ordinary humans participating in a series of high-energy dance contests each week — was influenced by the prevalence of viral dance numbers on social media applications like TikTok, as per Shakira. They realized that after the pandemic, there were so many individuals dancing in their living rooms, attempting to show their love for dance. So Shakira and the 'Dancing With Myself' crew decided that this would be the perfect show to allow a lot of individuals who aren't professionals — or who are professionals, everyone — access to a platform like this one, and to demonstrate not just skill, but also a passion for dance. In this new dance challenge series, the Latin music queen, musician Nick Jonas, and YouTube personality Liza Koshy all get a close-up look at the social media phenomenon. Contestants on 'Dancing With Myself' are not strictly assessed on their talents, but rather on their ability to amuse and be themselves.

Fans were captivated by the Queen of Pop herself before the contestants could work their magic. One of them wrote: "Dancing with myself is on fire!!! I loved to Shakira's dance with Don't Wait Up."

Some OG fans were even shrewd enough to slip into an album request while congratulating the pop diva on her new endeavor. As her last album, El Dorado dropped in 2017, a fan wrote: "Honestly, Dancing With Myself it’s all about Shakira.
