Covid in K-pop: 'The B-Zone' postponed mid-tour as 3 The Boyz members test positive
We had gotten a respite from the Covid-19 outbreak in May but unfortunately, the virus is once again wreaking havoc in the K-pop industry as several idols have tested positive in the span of one week. Fans were disappointed when NCT Dream’s Jaemin, Haechan, Jeno and Chenle had tested positive which led to the delay of their comeback promotions for ‘Beatbox’. And now The Boyz’s first world tour has been hindered as three members fell sick.
After the Omicron outbreak got under control in April, we got announcements after announcements of world tours from the likes of Ateez, Monsta X, P1Harmony, Seventeen, TWICE, Itzy, Stray Kids, TXT and more. The Boyz became the latest group to organize their first-ever world tour ‘The B-Zone’. They are currently in the midst of the American leg of their tour which began in Los Angeles on May 29. After an explosive stop in Atlanta, the K-pop group headed to Dallas on June 8. However, Juyeon, Kevin, Q and some of the staff members have gotten Covid-19.

The Boyz world tour postponed
On June 8, the label IST Entertainment shared that Juyeon, Kevin and Q (Changmin) had tested positive for Covid-19 along with the staff after taking a preemptive test. This has led to them postponing the rest of ‘The B-Zone’s American leg of the world tour. Fortunately, the group only had two more stops left – Dallas on June 8 and San Jose on June 10. IST added that they were rescheduling but it would take some time since multiple parties are involved like artist management, production and venues. They apologized for the inconvenience and asked for the fans’ understanding.
'Please wear your masks'
The three The Boyz members and the infected staff are currently recovering. Fans are sending supportive messages to the group as they tweeted, “Knowing that they waited so long for this tour makes me feel sad 😔 they must be feeling devastated but i hope they don’t blame themselves too much on this since it’s not their fault. for sure they don’t want anyone getting sick. get well soon juyeon, kevin, q, and the staffs…” Another fan posted, “Praying for juyeon, kevin, changmin and the staffs' fast recovery! 💞lets hope that everyone stays safe! please continue wearing your masks and taking precautions~ take your time boyz, we're always here for you!”
One fan was frustrated with the audience, “See what happens when y’all nasty ppl dont wear masks?” Another added, “Please wear your masks if you're going to a concert guys . it's not just for your protection but others' as well. you may not care if you get covid but it does impact a lot of other people - including tbz themselves . stays safe everyone !” One commented, "I hope every one that didnt wear a mask at the concerts has a very terrible day."
