'Checkmate': Itzy set comeback and world tour together, fans say 'its crazy over there'

Itzy will be making a comeback with 'Checkmate' in July before starting their first world tour in August

Looks like K-pop Twitter will have to get used to sudden world tour announcements once again now that the pandemic is under control. From Stray Kids, TXT, and TWICE to Ateez, Seventeen, and The Boyz going on world tours, fans have been unable to keep up. After TXT announced theirs in the middle of pre-comeback promotions, while Loona revealed their world tour just before the ‘Queendom 2’ finale, Itzy decided to give a heart attack to their fans by combining comebacks and tours.

On June 1, Itzy announced that they would be making a comeback with the mini-album ‘Checkmate’ on July 15. They will then kick off their first world tour on August 6 in Seoul before starting the American leg in October. They will be flying to Los Angeles on October 26 and currently have eight stops in the US. It will end in New York on November 13 with Itzy teasing more stops to be announced.

Itzy to go on first world tour ever

It has been a while since fans saw Itzy. Their last K-pop comeback was back in September 2021 with their first-ever studio album ‘Crazy In Love’. It was an immediate success as it is a certified double-platinum seller and topped the Gaon charts. It also did well internationally as it ranked at #11 on Billboard 200 and topped five other Billboard charts like the Top Album Sales Chart and World Albums Chart. Having debuted only in 2019, ‘Checkmate’ is Itzy's first-ever world tour which has international fans excited.

‘Wants to see us go broke’

Fans are trending #Itzy_Checkmate as they made tweets like, “Why how lovely more of a reason to be broke.” Another joked, “ITZY going on tour now too??😭 The kpop industry really wants to see us go broke huh.” One Midzy made a reaction meme, “Itzy cb and tour im awake.” Another commented, “Itzy announcing a cb AND a tour in the same post lmao it's crazy over there.” One made a double reaction meme, “Itzy cb and 1st world tour me who lives in ph and doesn’t have money.”

Another Midzy posted, “AN ITZY CB AND WORLD TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE FIRST DAY OF PRIDE MONTH ITZY TRULY LOVES GAYS ITZY ARE BACK #ITZY_CHECKMATE.” A multi-fan added, “This summer is insanely stacked - I feel even more overwhelmed than I already do lol.” Another shared, “4th gen gg stans winning right now (and losing money lol).” One Midzy wrote, “My heart says YES my wallet says YIKES.” Another fan who is excited about the ‘Checkmate’ concept wrote, “ITZY ROYAL CONCEPT IS COMING WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K.”
