'NCIS' has been around for quite some time. Having premiered in 2003, the hit CBS show is currently on its nineteenth season and is a police procedural drama that follows a team of special agents based in the Washington Navy Yard.

The series has seen some major twists and turns over the years but the most recent one isn't fictional as the set of 'NCIS' is being plagued by a mysterious malady that has left many cast and crew members sick. Though the origin or the source of the illness is yet to be revealed, production hasn't been stalled and is still going on in Valencia, California.

Reported first by TMZ, a source close to the show shared that at least 18 people fell sick on set and described it as a minor illness with symptoms of food poisoning. A show executive added that they have been having Zoom meetings to figure out how to break the news to the public.

Starring Mark Harmon, Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Katrina Law, and Brian Dietzen, among others, Season 19 of 'NCIS' began with agents McGee and Torres convincing Director Vance to bring in Special Agent Knight to help them find Gibbs after the wreckage of his boat is discovered. Gibbs is found eventually, following which the series has been steered in a manner that has kept fans on the edge.

With the next episode of 'NCIS' Season 19 airing on March 21, 2022, here's what we know about it. Titled 'The Wake,' the official synopsis of Episode 16 of 'NCIS' Season 19 reads, "A gruesome mishap at a Navy petty officer's gender-reveal party leads the team to the case of a missing teacher that was popularized on a true-crime podcast."
