'American Idol': Cadence Baker denied platinum ticket, fans say she 'smolders vocally'

Cadence Baker has emerged as the early fan-favorite pick to win 'American Idol' Season 20

ABC's hit singing competition show- 'American Idol' blessed the world by discovering talented gems like Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood. Year after year, the singing competition show churned out some amazing singers, but few managed to achieve the level of success that the early winners of the show enjoyed. But after watching 19-year-old Cadence Baker's audition, fans are convinced that she might be the next big star to come out of 'American Idol'.

Being born into a musical family, Cadence grew up watching her grandfather and father singing and performing. So, it didn't come as much of a surprise when the teenager decided to follow her family's legacy and dipped her toes into the world of music. Unlike her father, Cadence had bigger dreams and was looking to move away from living in the shadows of her legendary grandfather, Gary Baker. So she decided to audition for 'American Idol' and blaze her own trail. She picked Whitney Houston's 'I'm Your Baby Tonight' as her song. While even the most well-versed singers fumble while trying to mirror Whitney, Cadence however surprised everybody by deciding to put her own spin to the song. Her bold move paid off as the judges- Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan were lost for words after her performance.

The judges not only gave her a standing ovation but also predicted that she would go very far in the competition. Though Cadence left the auditions with a golden ticket, fans, however, felt that she deserved the platinum ticket considering her impeccable vocals. A fan commented on the show's YouTube clip of her performance, "She deserved a platinum ticket because she sang a lot better than the constants who did receive one. So far my favorite from the auditions." Another fan wrote, "That audition is for a platinum ticket!!!" "I think she should have gotten the platinum ticket. She is the next winner of American Idol!" shared a fan. "How in the world did this girl not get the platinum ticket?! Amazing talent!" wondered a fan.

Cadence also managed to become the fan-favorite pick as the next winner of 'American Idol'. A fan shared, "SHE IS EVERYTHING......This is the next Kelly Clarkson/Carrie Underwood to come out of American Idol." "I never say this when I watch audition tapes but SHE IS GOING TO WIN THIS SEASON," seconded a fan. "Ok, she's THE ONE!! Been following the auditions. Many EXCELLENT singers, but the instant she opened her mouth on that song I KNEW. Sometimes when the judges say "he or she's a star" you get the sense that they are being carried away in the moment, and using hyperbole. In this case, it's a GUARANTEE (regardless if she wins AI or not!!)!!!," added a fan. A fan on Twitter shared: "Cadence Baker with the Smokey tones, good arrangement, great sigh in her vocal. She smolders vocally and has some bite in their. Good breath support and runs. Nice!."
