BBMAs 2022: BTS historical win without attending has fans flexing 'and nothing for K-pop'
Fans have gone from flexing ‘BTS paved the way’ to ‘And nothing for K-pop’, and have much reason to do so as the global K-pop group made everyone proud at the BBMAs 2022. The Billboard Music Awards finally took place on May 15 in Las Vegas. It was a big night for Western stars Drake, Olivia Rodrigo as well as BTS. Drake extended his record as the most awarded artist in BBMAs history while Olivia Rodrigo won the most awards of the night with seven trophies.
Well, BTS had first turned heads by becoming the most nominated group in BBMAs history as they got seven nominations in six categories. That means, in one of the categories, they were pitted against each other, which further impressed fans. In 2021, BTS got the most nominations ever and won all of them. The K-pop supergroup has also been nominated for the ‘Top Duo/Group’ award for five years in a row now and has won in 2019, 2021, and now in 2022.

BTS make BBMAs history with 3 wins
While BTS did not win in all six of the categories they were nominated for, they still made history at the BBMAs 2022. They won in three of the categories at the award show – ‘Top Duo/Group’, ‘Top Song Sales Artist’ and ‘Top Selling Song’ awards. Well, this makes them the most awarded music group in BBMAs history. The record was previously held by Destiny’s Child with 11 wins which BTS surpassed with 12 wins.
‘Me counting BTS' winning awards’
ARMY have been amazed and are trending hashtags like #AndNothingForKPop. Fans were proud of the organic growth as BTS went from winning the ‘Top Social Artist’ award that is now discontinued to becoming the most awarded group at the BBMAs, “‘Nobody wants a paper award with no validation’ and now here we are. BTS PAVED THE WAY BTS HISTORY MAKERS.” One fan made a reaction meme, “Me counting BTS' winning awards and making history.” Another ARMY flexed, “From “paper award” to breaking a 17 year old record and becoming the most awarded group in bbmas history.”
