K-pop groups Astro, Dreamcatcher test negative while JinJin and Gahyeon get Covid

The rest of Dreamcatcher and Astro's Moonbin and Sanha test negative after their members Gahyeon and JinJin get Covid-19

Astro’s leader JinJin and Dreamcatcher’s Gahyeon are yet again some of the latest K-pop idols who have fallen sick due to Covid-19. While South Korea and the K-pop industry were commended for handling the global pandemic well in the past, they’re currently facing some difficulties. With the social distancing guidelines getting lax and more idols having crowded schedules, there has been an outbreak. Since the last week of July 2021, the likes of BTOB, Ateez, Treasure and EXO members are testing positive for Covid-19.

In fact, in the first week of September, almost all of the members of N.Flying and Enhypen were diagnosed with Covid-19. But they have all since recovered including the former IZ*ONE member Ahn Yujin. But yet again there’s been disheartening news. On September 6, it was announced that former Kara member Youngji got Covid-19. And on September 19, two idols, JinJin and Gahyeon were reported to have tested positive for Covid-19.

Astro's JinJin tests positive while Moonbin and Sanha don't

Astro’s agency released a statement and shared that JinJin first felt sick on September 16. His test came back negative but he got himself tested once again on September 18 when the symptoms returned. The test came back positive on September 19 and he is self-quarantined at the moment.

Members Moonbin, Sanha and the staff members who came in contact with him also got tested. Fantagio Entertainment shared on September 20 that fortunately Moonbin and Sanha had tested negative. However, all those who had crossed paths with JinJin, including the two members were currently in quarantine. All of their schedules at the moment were also canceled.

Rest of Dreamcatcher are negative after Gahyeon gets Covid

Dreamcatcher too has faced a similar situation. On the same day, it was reported that JinJin had got Covid-19, Dreamcatcher announced that their member Gahyeon had also tested positive for Covid-19. Their agency has been regularly testing the members and keeping an eye on their health. Gahyeon and the other members immediately got tested when she showed abnormal symptoms.

On September 20, the rest of the group and staff members tested negative but all of them are currently self-quarantining for two weeks. The girl group was supposed to appear for KCON:TACT HI 5 on September 19 but due to recent developments, their appearance was canceled.

'Stay strong'

Fans of both groups have been cheering the idols and wishing JinJin and Gahyeon a speedy recovery. Arohas made tweets like, “Let's pray for jinjin's fast recovery, also include all fantagio's artists and staffs as well please be safe astro,” “Yet he still managed to post even if he's feeling unwell =( Please get better soon, Jinjin,” and “JINJIN BEST LEADER. You’ve always been there for us. You assure us, make us feel heard. You know what to say when times get hard and keep us fighting. Now, it’s our turn to be there for you!! Please be well soon!”

InSomniacs too made similar posts, “Get well soon, we love you and stay strong,” “We wish speedy recovery for our lovely maknae Gahyeon #GetWellSoonGahyeon Hope the rest of Dreamcatcher members and staff are all healthy too May all Somnies also stay safe and healthy!” and “Hope that Dreamcatcher didn't blame their self for not being able to perform at kcon..it doesn't matter for now, just take care, think positive and come back stronger.”
