SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Abi Carter recently left Katy Perry awestruck with her powerful performance. During the episode, Abi performed Evanescence's song, 'Bring Me To Life'. Katy appeared focused and emotional from the judges' panel.

The ABC show contestant Abi was set to cover Evanescence, but the voice coaches tried to persuade her to sing 'His Eyes Are on the Sparrow.' Abi got confused after the coaches' suggestions but ultimately settled on ''Bring Me To Life'. Katy was highly impressed by Abi's powerful performance.

However, Katy was so deeply moved by Abi's performance that she needed to take a moment away from the judge's table for a few minutes after the powerful song. Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie were patiently waiting for Katy to collect her emotions and return to her seat.

Abi Carter slams hate comments against Emmy Russell

'American Idol' Season 22 aspiring singer Abi Carter has recently extended her support for her fellow contestant Emmy Russell, who has faced criticism over her song choice. In the previous episode, Loretta Lynn's granddaughter Emmy chose to perform Blink-182's song 'All The Small Things'

Although Emmy wowed the ABC show judges with the punk song, the viewers were disappointed with the song choice. However, Abi chimed in the comment section of Emmy's performance video and defended her friend noting, "I will say this once... Anyone leaving hate comments needs to understand that REAL PEOPLE with REAL FEELINGS and REAL LIVES are reading these comments."

She added, "When you say negative things about people, (especially people you have never met and know little to nothing about) it says a lot more about you than it says about the person you’re hating on." Abi further noted that Emmy was the most kind, talented, and special woman she had ever had the pleasure and luck of meeting.
