Why did Kenedi Anderson quit 'American Idol' after her Top 24 performance?

Kenedi explained to her Instagram followers that she had to drop out of 'American Idol' for personal reasons

Kenedi Anderson has been one of the strongest contenders on 'American Idol' Season 20. After flooring the judges during her auditions, the Virginia resident bagged the coveted platinum ticket which gave her the advantage of not only skipping the first round of Hollywood Week, but also picking a partner for herself for the second round. In her typical style, Kenedi continued to wow everybody with each of her performances and managed to earn a spot on the top 24.

On the recently aired episode of the ABC show, under the mentorship of Bebe Rexha, she once again left everybody speechless with her stunning performance to Christina Perri's 'Human'. But sadly, when the audience tried voting for her, they couldn't find her name on the 'American Idol' app making them wonder if there was a glitch of some sort on the app. But host Ryan Seacrest popped up and explained that Kenedi withdrew from the competition for personal reasons and wished her the best.

Why did Kenedi Anderson quit 'American Idol'?

When Ryan announced Kenedi's withdrawal from the competition he simply cited it as due to personal reasons and didn't go into any further details. Kenedi too took to her Instagram after her performance was aired to tell her followers that it was the "hardest decision" for her to drop out of the competition, and thanked everyone for supporting her. The young singer didn't go into many details as well and just stated that it was for personal reasons and stated that though it was a difficult decision it was necessary for her to do that. 

But that hasn't stopped the show's fans from feeling sad about her exit. A fan tweeted, "Um...so why did my real life Barbie Ms. Kenedi drop out!? She had such a beautiful voice and was one of my top faves #americanidol." "@kenedianderson_ I'm sad that you just withdrew from #AmericanIdol, Kenedi. But your performance in Hawaii was great!!! Still, you're a great singer, and you should get a recording contract in the future!!!" wrote a fan. "Damn I was hoping the rumors weren't true about Kenedi leaving. So sad to see her go! That performance of "Human" was really good! #AmericanIdol," added a fan. "So sad to see Kenedi is no longer in the competition. She was in my Top 5 and could’ve easily been the winner #AmericanIdol," expressed a fan. "Kenedi Anderson you did us dirty Giving us those performances then dropping out #AmericanIdol," declared a fan.

'American Idol' Season 20 airs every Sunday and Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
