LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Haven Madison, 16, stunned the 'American Idol' judges with an original song in the new Season 21 premiere, which airs on ABC on Sunday, February, 19 at 8/7c. Fans are already warning Taylor Swift that Haven will be a formidable competitor in the future.

The long-running competition celebrated its 21st year and season on Sunday. This is the sixth season of ABC's reality competition show. From 2002 until 2016, it aired on FOX for 15 seasons. Following a two-year hiatus, ABC resurrected the TV talent competition that started it all. Season 21 began with the season's first Golden Ticket.

Haven Madison auditions with her dad on guitar

Haven exhibited her singing skills with a performance of a self-penned original song named "Fifteen," accompanied by her father, Jason Roy, on acoustic guitar. During her audition, Idol judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry were enthused over her songwriting abilities.

"You can have it. You can have it right now," Katy and Lionel gasped as her performance came to a close. Absolutely. In fact, let’s go to the studio right now. Let’s cut that song right now. Can we cut that song?" Lionel went on to compliment the young contestant's vocals and songwriting ability.

Haven's father, the lead vocalist of the GRAMMY-nominated Christian contemporary music group Building 429, burst into tears following her audition. "Are you okay? You’re not. Oh my God, I saw that," Katy said, noticing Haven's father crying.

"Oh my God," Lionel said. "Dad, there’s reason to cry." He then praised the young singer's "incredible" songwriting abilities. "You can be anything you want to be right now," he added. "It’s believable. Artist, voice, songwriting. Check. Check. Check. I don’t see anything wrong now, except the world doesn’t know anything about you, but they will. That was incredible, and I’m so happy you came to American Idol," added Lionel.

"I’m so grateful to be here," Haven said.

"The vocal decision you made, they were just like so on another level," Katy said. "And they’re so you and authentic and coming from your heart, that song has a lot of opportunity to be something."

"We're starting this day off good," Luke said, as Haven was the first Idol audition to screen.

"I mean, I think when a 16-year-old can really speak the 16-year-old language that all the other 16-year-olds want to hear, it’s really special. I mean, whatever y’all are doing is what," Luke said. "Let Dad just hit the record button," he added.

Haven Madison eventually received three yeses and a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Fans think Haven was 'struggling to stay on key'

Fans unlike the judges had some criticism, "Honestly I wasn't fully listening to her words so that was my mistake but she sounded like she was struggling to stay on key at times. Maybe just nerves. But her voice quality and singing style was great." Another viewer added, "Idk her voice hurt my ears, screechy af." Speaking about how young she is, a fan wrote, "These kids shouldn't be on. Kids are just too delicate today to handle disappointment or adversity." Not agreeing with the judges' comments, a fan tweeted, "Heaven is alright. Lyrically her song goes nowhere."

One fan also wrote, "I guess I am in the minority here, because I did not like Haven's singing voice all that much." Calling the judges' comments overhyped, another fan wrote, "Haven .. um.. i mean she does deserves the ticket but that review from the judges was over hyped." Not happy with how the season kicked off, a fan wrote, "Well this is starting off poorly. The blond girl with her dad was really bad. And they put her through." However, some fans are comparing her to young Taylor Swift, "Hey Taylor you better watch ya back, I think Haven from Tennessee is coming for your spot!"
