'American Idol' fans call out Ziggy Krassenberg for being 'rude' to Mackenzie Sol in 'dramatic' face off

During 'American Idol' Season 22 practice, Ziggy Krassenberg begged Mackenzie Sol to stop singing as it was disrupting her preparation

SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA: During 'American Idol' Season 22, Mackenzie Sol and Ziggy Krassenberg faced off in a sing-off to secure a spot in the Top 24. Even before the performance began, Ziggy's conduct towards Mackenzie left viewers of the ABC program outraged. 

With just one slot remaining in the Top 24, the competition intensified between Ziggy, a 23-year-old reality star from the Netherlands, and Mackenzie, a content developer hailing from Las Vegas. Ziggy went first with "This Is Me" from 'The Greatest Showman'.

Feeling inspired to highlight the importance of authenticity, Mackenzie switched gears and performed "With A Little Help From My Friends" by The Beatles.

The judges praised both performances for their unique qualities. Unable to reach a decision, they challenged them to a sing-off of "Jealous" by Labrinth vs Harry Styles' "Falling."

The two chose "Jealous." During practice, Ziggy asked Mackenzie to stop singing as it was distracting him. Looking at this drama, fans took to X to express their thoughts and reactions with one writing, "Ziggy sucks. Please spare us!" While another chimed in, "McKenzie & Ziggy sing off.... Already dramatic..." 

One upset fan wrote, "Ziggy told Mackenzie to stop practing, for that Ziggy can go home." One user posted, "Ziggy being dramatic and telling McKenzie to stop singing?? Rude." 

One user further noted, "Aught sorry I don’t like ziggy #americanidol that was rude as fuck." Another concerned fan asked, "Oh no. What's wrong with Ziggy?"

Mackenzie stated that he would never sing the song again, as it stirred up emotions from a past relationship. Katy Perry advised him to harness his pain into his performance.

Mackenzie informed his mother in a phone call that this was the "most nerve-wracking" thing he's ever done. Ziggy went deep as he sang about survival.

In the end, the Idol judges decided to include Mackenzie in the Top 24, while assuring Ziggy that he was "a star." Despite their encouragement, Ziggy was left "heartbroken" by the decision.
