'He ain't no Harry Styles': 'American Idol' fans bash Katy Perry as she compares Michael Williams to Grammy winner
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katy Perry was captivated during Michael Williams' auditions even though 'American Idol' viewers were unimpressed with the Tom Cruise impersonator and wondered how he got a Golden Ticket.
'American Idol,' the legendary series that pioneered the music competition genre on television, has returned to the airways for another season on ABC. Music industry heavyweights and celebrity judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan are helping to choose whom America will eventually vote for to become the next singing phenomenon. Ryan Seacrest, the Emmy Award-winning host and producer, also returns to the popular competition series for its sixth season on ABC and 21st overall. Meanwhile, another familiar face that returned was 'The Voice' alum Michael Williams.

Following a delightful moment with Katy dressed as a Las Vegas showgirl, Michael, a 21-year-old from Mason, Ohio, takes the stage. Anyone who watched Season 18 of 'The Voice' may recognize this singer, who reached the Top 17 as an 18-year-old on Nick Jonas' team that cycle. He resumes the reality TV competition circuit tonight with an audition of 'Talking to the Moon' by Bruno Mars. Katy starts fiddling with her hair and then covers her wedding ring not-so-subtly — clearly enamored by this young hottie. "You’re not just a pretty face," Lionel remarks. Michael is then compared to Harry Styles and Shawn Mendes by Katy, who says, "You're Top 10 material." All three judges voted yes, and as a result, Michael's on his way to Hollywood.

Man, he needs get over himself... but doubt he will since they just booted his ego through the roof. Ugh."
