After fighting tooth and nail to get through the auditions, the contestants continue to fight it out during the Hollywood week to earn a spot in the singing competition show. Allegra Miles and Taylor Fagins left everybody awestruck with their original songs and piano-playing skills. So, it came as no surprise when the judges decided to pair the talented duo together for the Hollywood Duets round.

While both Taylor and Allegra were excited about being paired together, Taylor was however a bit apprehensive about overshadowing Allegra with his loud vocals. Taylor kept trying to reel back in to let Allegra's voice shine through even though she urged him not to hold back. Taylor's apprehensions got the best of him when it was time for the duo to perform together on the stage. They picked 'Locked out of Heaven' and did the best they could. After watching their performance, the judges felt that even though both Allegra and Taylor were exceptionally talented individuals, when they were brought together their voices weren't in sync.

Lionel Richie cited the example of asking a star basketball player to play football to explain the performance of the duo. After some deliberation, the judges decided to send Allegra to the next round and Taylor home. Even though Taylor took it in his stride, fans weren't pleased with the judges' decision and felt that he deserved another chance. A fan tweeted, "I did NOT like that decision AT ALL #AmericanIdol Taylor Fagins deserved another chance. #HollywoodWeek." Another fan wrote, "I thought Lionel was gonna fake Taylor out. I'm def slipping. Or drunk. #AmericanIdol." "Alegra Miles & Taylor Fagins, TeamSatinSoul They set a jazzy vibe, pulled out some good melisma. Not the best song for his voice but the blend was on point. So sweet of him to worry about overpowering her.Great ending," commented a fan on the YouTube clip of the duo's performance. "Ah man. She sounded amazing, he deserved a different song. That’s annoying me, he’s like the back up singer not the duet," echoed a fan. "So sad to see @taylorfagins go but I can’t wait to see what’s next for him. He is an incredible storyteller #AmericanIdol," added a fan.
