Kdrama industry welcomes BL stories with adaptations of popular webtoons, fans excited

'Semantic Error's success has made the Kdrama world turn to BL based concepts

Most Kdrama fans have their eyes on BL dramas too, especially those from Thailand. Be it 'TharnType', '2gether the series', or 'Bad buddy', fans have always loved the different plots of boy-love. With the genre attracting more and more viewers, the Kdrama industry is also finally stepping in to produce BL dramas.

To be fair, the Korean film industry has always had BL-based movies and series but they weren’t marketed well. However, with ‘Semantic Error’, a recent BL series starring two K-pop idols, ranking the charts, production companies are beginning to rake in serious profits from the genre. Besides, kpop idols who act in BL series without mentioning their sexuality have earned a lot of curious fans. In fact, Park Seoham, the male lead of ‘Semantic Error’, gained a massive Instagram following after the series was released.

BL dramas are coming

Cradle Studio, a production company, recently released an advertisement regarding staff audition for a BL series. The company said that their future projects will include popular BL webtoons 'Bani and Oppas', 'Secret Relationship', and more originals. Many people were drawn to 'Secret Relationship' since it is a well-known BL webtoon with a hot, thriving plot.

How does the plot go?

In the series ‘Secret Relationship’, the plot centers around Daon and Sunghyeon. Daon is a frugal man who hails from a poor home and works hard at his business. His miserly nature constantly irritates his coworker Sunghyeon. However, an accident pushes them closer together, but Daon now has to choose between his affections for Sunghyeon and his ex-tutor Jaemin, who is also a hottie. Who will he choose? 

The fans are hyped

Kdrama fans were super excited about the upcoming series. One fan wrote, “Omg, I am waiting for the production company to drop the cast list like omg------------” while another fan wrote, “OMYGAWDDDD THIS ONE!!!! PLEASE THE VISUALS WERE SO GOOD!!! AND IT MAKES MY HEART HURT A LOT !!” Additionally, many other people also have expressed that they want a GL-based story. One person wrote, “BRUH ENOUGH WITH THE BL, where's the GL” while another said, “Can we get a gl already happy for the gae bois tho now gimme gae gurls.” What are your thoughts?
