Netflix 'A Naija Christmas': 5 things you didn't know about Kunle Remi
Netflix is bringing to screens its first original Nigerian movie in the form of the Christmas romantic-comedy 'A Naija Christmas'. The festive watch is set to be full of mayhem and madness as three sons get competitive and try to bring home a daughter-in-law for their mother so as to win the family house.
'A Naija Christmas' is a way of saying a Nigerian Christmas with the movie being set there. The Netflix film will bring humor to the situation as the three sons scrabble to find wives to present to their mother along with love as they face truths about their relationship as well. Kunle Remi as one of the sons
Kunle Remi is a Nigerian actor whose whole name is actually Oyekunle Opeyemi Oluwaremi. The actor is well polished and has graduated from the New York Film Academy in 2014 from where he studied acting. He even went on to learn directing and filmmaking from the academy as well. Kunle started a professional acting career in 2011 after he won the Nigerian reality show 'Gulder Ultimate Search'. While he studied he also had a stint as a host for an internet tv channel. So far he has worked in various movies, stage plays, and television series some of which include 'Falling', 'Lagos Cougars Reloaded', 'Tiwa's Baggage', 'Tinsel', 'Sobi's Mystic', 'Mama Drama', 'Lincoln's Clan' and more.
Kunle also dabbled in modeling in his early years and appeared in ad campaigns for Diamond Bank, Airtel Nigeria and others. The year 2021 also saw him become the co-host of 'Gulder Ultimate Search'. The actor will portray one of the three sons tasked with finding a wife to bring home to his mother in 'A Naija Christmas'.
Rachel Oniga as the mother
Rachel Oniga was a Nigerian film actress who hailed from Eku, Delta State in Southern Nigeria. Before she entered the acting sphere she used to work at Ascoline Nigeria Limited, a Dutch Consultant Company. It was her divorce in 1993 that spurred the career change with her making her debut with the movie 'Onome' and her debut Yoruba movie being 'Owo Blow'. She went on to star in other productions of the years which include 'Out of Bounds', 'Restless Mind', 'The Royal Hibiscus Hotel', 'Doctor Bello','Rise of the Saints', 'Passion of Mind' amongst others. Her more notable projects include the series 'Super Story' and the film 'Sango'.
The Nollywood actress, unfortunately, passed away in July of 2021 due to a heart ailment. She is survived by her daughter Georgia and her grandchild. The actress played the part of the mother in Netflix's 'A Naija Christmas' which is one of her last projects.
