In 'A Gentleman in Moscow' Episode 4, viewers witness Rostov, who has been living at the Metropol Hotel for over 10 years, sticking to his routine, carrying on with his usual activities, and occasionally visiting the rooftop.

On the other hand, Mikhail 'Mishka' Fyodorovich Mindich (Fehinti Balogun), Rostov's friend, is enraged by the actions of the new leader, who has seized land belonging to farmers.

Mishka's insults directed at the new leader escalate into a heated confrontation with the Metropol guards. As the situation intensifies, security steps in and escorts Mishka away.

Despite Rostov's attempts, he is unable to find Mishka, leaving him with a profound sense of sadness.

As the episode unfolds, Nina (Leah Balmforth) arrives to meet Rostov, bringing her daughter along. Nina's husband has been sentenced to five years in jail, and she wants to follow him, but she needs someone to care for her daughter.

In the last scene, Nina asks Rostov to look after her daughter, Sophia, until she returns.
