It's no secret that Bryan Cranston-starrer ‘Your Honor’ is based on the Israeli series ‘Kvodo’. Showtime's crime drama revolves around a game of lies, deceit and impossible choices after the son of a dangerous criminal dies — similar to the Israeli tale.

Billed as a “limited series”, the show was created keeping only 10 episodes in mind but with all the loose ends and unwrapped storylines, fans can't help but demand another season. Now, as fans wonder if there will be another season, here's some good news. Did you know that the Israeli series had two seasons? If that makes you hopeful, here's all you need to know.

‘Your Honor’ (Showtime)

Shedding light on how similar ‘Your Honor’ and ‘Kvodo’ are, creator Peter Moffat dished out some secrets in an exclusive interview with AssignmentX. Talking about the changes he made, he said, “The premise is the same. The same thing happens in Israel, as happens in New Orleans at the beginning of the show. But I made a very early choice, which is when Liz Glotzer, the producer, called me and told me the premise, the idea is this simple thing: what would you do or not do to protect your child? She told me the circumstances particular to this story.”

Moffat continued, “I stayed up all night and started writing, and thinking, and asking questions, and writing myself questions, and wrote very fast, and found that I was on a real roll with the story, and became afraid to go and look at somebody else’s version of the same premise, the same idea, which was the original. So, I didn’t for a while, because I wanted to keep control of my own material. But then I did, of course, which was fantastic, because by then it was giving me all sorts of new elements and new ideas that I hadn’t thought of myself. So, it was a good combination of establishing oneself and knowing what you’re doing, then having the great privilege and luxury of introducing things from that show which I hadn’t previously considered, or the writers’ room hadn’t previously considered. So, that was great.”

Bryan Cranston as Michael Desiato and Hunter Doohan as Adam Deisato (Showtime)

The show started with Michael Desiato (Bryan Cranston) trying to protect his son Adam Desiato (Hunter Doohan). In the penultimate episode, we find out how Michael's late wife Robin was having an affair and his son Adam doesn't know about it. Adam may get into trouble as Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg) now knows that he is having an affair with his daughter, Fia Baxter (Lilli Kay). And the final episode shows Adam's death in almost the same way as Rocco died.

Meanwhile, the summary for ‘Kvodo’ was dubbed as: “Micah Alkobi is a rising-star judge preparing to run for powerful public office when he learns that his troubled teenage son was involved in a hit-and-run accident involving the son of a notoriously violent crime boss. As the plot unfolds, the show’s title takes on a double meaning as the honorable judge discovers just how many laws he’s willing to break in order to shield his son. While the series centers on Alkobi’s Breaking Bad-like transformation, some of the best scenes involve the women who confront him: his mother-in-law; a young lawyer protégé; and a police detective who begins to suspect him.”

Now, some fans can't stop wondering if there will be a new season. “Did you know that this show is from Israeli TV series called "Kvodo"? But in Israel they had 2 seasons. I wish that this show was in USA was 2 seasons long just like in Israel not only 1," one fan wrote on Twitter.

Another said, “@showtime - PLEASE renew #YourHonor for a season 2! So much to be created!! Michael/Jimmy mortal enemies, or mortally in cahoots to hide their sins? What happens to Eugene? How do Charlie & Nancy fight the dirty NOPD & Desire? Lil Mo v Jimmy. And life after the unthinkable loss!” And a third added, “Already itching for Your Honor season 2!! Finale was fire! Hope they bring it back man. Bravo @Showtime.”

Written by Jennifer Cacicio, the season finale aired on February 14, 2021, at 10 pm ET, but it was made available for Showtime App owners ahead of its premiere on Showtime Channel. You can catch the show on Showtime’s official website, SHO OnDemand, and on the Showtime App.

With a total of 10 episodes, the limited series was created to end with one season but going by the fan craze, the makers might just decide to renew it for another part.
