'Yellowjackets' Season 2: 5 things to know about the return of hit Showtime thriller
'Yellowjackets' Season 2 was confirmed even before the horror-thriller reached the midway mark. The news of the show's renewal broke in December and ahead of the finale, there are still questions that are left unanswered. Per Screenrant, one of the series stars, Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays the teen version of Taissa, said the show was looking at close to five seasons. "Here's the truth: I don't know the answer to a lot of the questions. I only know as far as the end of Season 1 and they have five seasons already written out in their head."
The part-horror, part-psychological thriller, and part-survivor drama follow a New Jersey female soccer team who try and survive the harsh wilderness after their plane crashes. Toggling between the past and the present, it follows the impact of the crash on the survivors and how they're unable to leave the torrid time behind as their murky past catches up with them. The show has been an absolute hit with the audience and critics. Rotten Tomatoes reads a healthy 75% rating and was praised for its intriguing plot and gripping horror.

When does 'Yellowjackets' release and where to watch
There is no official date confirmed for 'Yellowjackets' Season 2. The first installment premiered November 2021 on Showtime and it is likely that the series will air around the same month in 2022 as well. Should the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic not affect production, then maybe it will air quicker than expected.
Who will return in 'Yellowjackets' Season 2
Expect all the characters to return, even Ella Purnell, although her character Jackie is dead. Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, and Christina Ricci star will reprise their roles. Sophie Nelisse, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, and Jasmin Savoy Brown will all return as well.
What is the plotline of 'Yellowjackets' Season 2?
The finale of Season 1 revealed that Lottie Matthews (Courtney Eaton) was the Antler Queen with Van and Misty as her followers. Jackie froze to death after a squabble with the entire survivors' lot, and in the present day, Natalie (Lewis) is kidnapped by Lottie, who is revealed to be alive. There are also some unanswered questions: How did Lottie survive? Was Misty working with Lottie all along, and since Van was one of the followers, did she perish or is she pulling the strings as well.

'Yellowjackets' is created and executive produced by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. Jonathan Lisco serves as the co-showrunner and executive producer. Karyn Kusama directed the pilot and is also an executive producer; Drew Comins of Creative Engine is part of the executive producers as well.
