Is Sophie Turner's 'Steal' renewed for Season 2? Here's what we know so far
Prime Video's 'Steal' starring 'Game of Thrones' alum, Sophie Turner, is the latest thriller on the block. A stacked cast, coupled with the gripping plotline, sees it make a case for itself as one of the best shows of the year. With the series dropping earlier this week, those who have caught the series have begun the chatter about a potential season 2.
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmation on a second season. That it's too early for Prime to gauge the numbers and decide the future will be one of the factors behind the show's renewal up in the air. To add, it was also marketed as a limited series, adding another question mark about season 2. For now, all signs point to the show being a one-season piece of content.
'Steal' sees Sophie Turner play the lead as Zara, an office worker who falls into the middle of a major heist. At the start of the teaser, what looks like a normal workday turns awry when a band of robbers takes everyone hostage and robs £4 billion of the country's pension. Written and created by Sotiris Nikias, the series is executive-produced by Greg Brenman and Rebecca de Souza, Nuala O’Leary serves as the producer, and the directors include Sam Miller and Hettie MacDonald.
The official logline for Steal reads, "A typical work day at a pension fund investment company, Lochmill Capital, is upended when a gang of violent thieves bursts in and forces Zara and her best mate Luke (Archie Madekwe) to execute their demands. But who would steal billions of pounds of ordinary people’s pensions and why? DCI Rhys (Jacob Fortune-Lloyd) is determined to find out, but as a recently relapsed gambling addict, Rhys must keep his own money problems at bay while dealing with the secret agendas and competing interests at the center of this far-reaching crime."
Ahead of the show's release. Turner previewed her character, Zara, during an interview with Elle. "Playing someone who doesn’t have her shit together at all, on any level, was incredibly freeing,” she says. “It’s not something I’ve fully explored before. She’s messy and emotional, and that felt honest."
The six-episode series opened to positive reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes rating it a healthy 68%. While critics have deducted marks for the ending, the storyline, and the cast were lavished with praise. All episodes of 'Steal' are currently streaming on Prime Video.
