Sophie Turner reunites with ‘Game of Thrones’ alum in bone-chilling horror flick ‘The Dreadful’
Natasha Kermani's 'The Dreadful', a period horror movie, reunites 'Game of Thrones' stars Sophie Turner and Kit Harington. This will be the duo's first work together after HBO fantasy drama concluded its epic run in 2019.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie follows Anne (Turner), a woman living with her mother-in-law, Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden), in medieval English society. Things change when a man from her past (Harington) returns from war, and the curse comes in the form of a knight. The first look photos, obtained exclusively by the website sees Harington and Turner in conversation in a wooded setting. The expressions don't give away much of the plot.
Speaking to the outlet, Kermani was elated about working with Turner and Harington. "Working with this cast was a joy from start to finish, and of course, to see Kit and Sophie back together onscreen was a special thrill," the writer-director said. "Their friendship and chemistry are impossible to miss and one of my favorite aspects of the film." Per the site, the film is set against the backdrop of the Wars of the Roses, the battle for the English monarchy's control between two rival houses.
Previously, Turner recounted working with Harington on GoT. During her appearance on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers,' she added that she was producing and starring in 'The Dreadful, ' and recommended the 'Eternals' star as the ideal male lead.
"So, I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to, but this is going to be really fucking weird, Soph,’” Turner said. "And I was like, ‘What is he talking about?’ Then I was reading [the script], and it’s like, ‘Kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex…’ And then I’m like, ‘Oh, shoot, that’s my brother.' We put it out of our minds, and then we get on set and it’s the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst."
'The Dreadful' releases in theaters, on demand, and digital platforms on February 20, 2026
