Sophie Turner's upcoming thriller 'Steal' is due later this month. The 'Game of Thrones' alum plays the lead as Zara, an office worker who falls into the middle of a major heist. At the start of the teaser, what looks like a normal workday turns awry when a band of robbers takes everyone hostage and robs £4 billion of the country's pension. The series drops January 21 on Prime Video.

The official logline for Steal reads, "A typical work day at a pension fund investment company, Lochmill Capital, is upended when a gang of violent thieves bursts in and forces Zara and her best mate Luke (Archie Madekwe) to execute their demands. But who would steal billions of pounds of ordinary people’s pensions and why? DCI Rhys (Jacob Fortune-Lloyd) is determined to find out, but as a recently relapsed gambling addict, Rhys must keep his own money problems at bay while dealing with the secret agendas and competing interests at the center of this far-reaching crime."

In an interview with Elle, Turner weighed in on playing Zara. "Playing someone who doesn’t have her shit together at all, on any level, was incredibly freeing,” she says. “It’s not something I’ve fully explored before. She’s messy and emotional, and that felt honest."

Echoing the sentiment was Madekwe as Luke. "I loved his humour and his wit," he said. "But I also loved his thoughtlessness. He shoots from the hip. He’s a panicker. He hasn’t thought any of this through,  and that felt human to me.” Luke’s impulsive decision-making places him in morally grey territory at times, something Madekwe was keen to explore without judgment. "It’s an alien situation for him," he explains. "He’s treading water, trying to stay afloat, grasping at anything that might keep him alive or make it end quicker."

"Sometimes the decisions he makes are morally questionable, but I think they’re deeply human," he further added. "He’s not without guilt. It costs him emotionally. He’s acting out of desperation, doing what he can to survive."

The series is executive-produced by Greg Brenman and Rebecca de Souza. Nuala O’Leary serves as the producer, and the directors include Sam Miller and Hettie MacDonald. Sotiris Nikias comes in as the writer and creator.

'Steal' premieres January 21 on Prime Video.
