Netflix used the hype of Super Bowl Sunday to unleash the first look at 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth'. The film brings Brad Pitt back into worn jeans and laid-back danger as the character first seen in Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'. Interestingly, there's a neat bit of calendar poetry here, too. In Tarantino's 2019 film, Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton share a particular conversation at Musso & Frank Grill on February 8, 1969, according to Deadline. Fast forward exactly 57 years to February 8, 2026, and the teaser for Booth's next chapter hits television screens during America's biggest sports night. Fiction and reality don't usually line up so perfectly. This time, they did.

The footage picks up after the bloody chaos that closed 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'. Booth, clearly not in peak physical shape, is seen icing both his knee and shoulder while speaking with a character played by Elizabeth Debicki. In an almost casual confession, he admits to helping Leonardo DiCaprio's Rick Dalton deal with the "hippie intruders." Debicki's character pushes for specifics. Rick, ever the movie star, politely dodges the details. Then the teaser loosens up and starts bouncing. Set to the unmistakable pulse of the 'Peter Gunn' theme, the preview becomes a fast-moving collage of moments rather than a straightforward setup.

Booth and Debicki stride side by side between buildings. Carla Gugino appears at a sunlit Malibu house that looks peaceful until it doesn't. A group of intimidating figures, seemingly connected to organized crime, hefts a sledgehammer with bad intentions written all over their faces. There are flashes of Booth inside a movie theater projection booth, watching reels spin as a Blaxploitation film lights up the screen. Elsewhere, he's behind the wheel in a demolition derby, metal crashing and sparks flying. The camera also lingers briefly on the exterior of Big Kahuna Burger. One thing viewers might notice right away is what's missing.

Despite Cliff Booth's reputation, there's no visible smoking, drinking, nudity, or foul language in the teaser. Or rather, there is, but it's been aggressively scratched out of the frame whenever it appears. It's clumsy on purpose, feeling like both a playful nod to broadcast restrictions and a mischievous jab at censorship itself. The story draws from 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: A Novel', the book Tarantino later released that expanded Cliff Booth's backstory beyond what appeared on screen. The novel turned Booth into something closer to a fixer, a guy studios call when situations need to disappear secretly. That seems to be where the film is headed.

Pitt leads the cast as Booth, a role that earned him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Joining him are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Scott Caan, and J.B. Tadena, though their characters remain unnamed for now. Tarantino wrote the screenplay but handed directing duties to David Fincher, as per Variety. Tarantino has been open about searching for the right project to serve as his tenth and final feature. Fincher, meanwhile, is firmly in his element at Netflix. His relationship with the streamer stretches back to 'Mindhunter' and includes features like 'Mank' and 'The Killer'. As for when audiences will get the full picture, Netflix isn't saying much. The teaser closes with a simple promise: "Coming Soon."
