Will Night Nurse return? 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Episode 5 teases much-awaited comeback
Contains spoilers for 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Episode 5: 'The Grand Design'
'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Episode 5 dropped quite a string of Easter eggs as the Marvel series heads toward an explosive end. One of them hints at the return of another major character in Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple/Night Nurse. First introduced in Season 1 of 'Daredevil', the 'Ahsoka' star reprised her role in several Marvel TV series, including 'Jessica Jones', 'Luke Cage', 'Iron Fist', and 'The Defenders'.
In the latest episode, 'The Grand Design', Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) mentioned a nurse who can treat Bullseye's (Wilson Bethel) wounds, seemingly referencing Temple. Fans of the series will know her as a character who earned the trust of the masked vigilantes by providing them with medical aid. While there is no concrete confirmation that Dawson will be seen in the series, speculation is rife that she will return, especially after the likes of Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones had cameos in Seasons 1 and 2, respectively.
Temple was introduced in 'Daredevil' (2015) when she found a banged-up Murdock in a dumpster. She was later kidnapped by the mafia for helping the blind vigilante, but was ultimately saved. Despite the romantic spark between the two, Murdock and Temple decided not to get involved with each other. The character was later seen in 'Jessica Jones', where she treated a gravely injured Luke Cage (Mike Colter). The two later got involved romantically, but called off their relationship. Earlier, the actress hinted that she was done with the character after 'Luke Cage' Season 2. "I don’t know if I’ll be back after this, to be honest, but it’s been an amazing few years," she said, as per ScreenGeek. "I’ve been on a lot of different shows. I mean, I don’t know if maybe they do a third season of Luke Cage, potentially, or maybe if they figure out some kind of way for me to be on The Punisher – just so I can feel like I’ve done every show. But it’s been like, my daughter is in high school, so I kinda wanna’ not be 3000 miles away for work."
However, the latest developments seemingly keep the door open for a potential Night Nurse cameo. The series has made it clear that the trio in focus is Murdock, Bullseye, and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), who is set to unleash hell after the death of his wife Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer). For now, Dawson's appearance remains uncertain. Meanwhile, fans can watch all five episodes of 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 on Disney+.
