Will ‘Daredevil Born Again’ Season 2 finale get a theatrical release? Marvel exec teases possibility
'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 has lived up to every bit of its billing so far. Four episodes of the hit Marvel show have been a typical Daredevil affair with brutal action scenes, a gripping storyline, and a wider Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) connection. With this, speculation is rampant about whether the explosive finale will get a theatrical release. Marvel has been tight-lipped about any potential big-screen release. However, the final episode will almost certainly hit the streamer first.
That said, Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, hoped that the finale of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 deserves to be released in theaters. Speaking on ‘The Escape Pod’ podcast, the Marvel executive expressed his enthusiasm for a big-screen drop. “I want to do that so bad. I mean, maybe we could do it for the finale of Daredevil or something,” Winderbaum said. “We gotta do it.” However, nothing has been confirmed at the time of writing. Should the studios indeed decide to take that route, it marks the second time Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox), will be seen in theaters. Cox was last seen in a surprise cameo reprising his role as Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) legal consultant in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.
It is safe to say that this move will be a hit with fans of the blind vigilante, with Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), already making an appearance in the upcoming 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'. It will be a welcome decision to give Daredevil another cinematic run, even if it is a limited release. Perhaps, Marvel can take a page out of Netflix's notebook, with the streamer releasing the finale of 'Stranger Things' Season 5 in theaters. In related news, 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 has a slew of storylines it has put in motion this instalment. From bringing back Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and revealing she has a daughter, a depth-filled arc for Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), an MCU connect in the form of Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard), to teasing the death of Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) — the series has pulled out all stops making the show an absolute humdinger at the halfway mark.
Episode 4 ended with Vanessa’s unconfirmed fate after a shard of glass from a souvenir thrown by Bullseye finds its target. With his intentions set on killing Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin (Vincent D 'Onofrio), and Vanessa, the premier villain now puts himself directly on Fisk’s radar, with the latter gunning for revenge. While the feverish wait for the finale continues, Season 1 and Episodes 1-4 of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 are streaming on Disney+.
