As Netflix gears up for the upcoming release of the latest installment of its popular Regency drama 'Bridgerton', fans of the show are eagerly awaiting the return of their favorite characters. As of this writing, it has been confirmed that the fourth season will primarily focus on the characters of Benedict Bridgerton and the maid Sophie, played by Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha, respectively. This leaves the door open to further speculation surrounding the role played by previous season mainstays in general, and Kate Sharma and Anthony ‘Bridgerton Season 4’: Will fan-favorites Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton Return? Here’s what the book says in particular.

Kate and Anthony's love story blossomed throughout the third season of the Netflix show. The couple left the Bridgerton House behind to travel to India in Season 3, Episode 7. The reason behind their visit was to trace Kate's family roots and for Anthony to educate himself about the cultural heritage of their soon-to-be-born child. However, the fact that the couple was largely absent from the season four previews caused some consternation among fans who were curious about their absence. Nevertheless, it can be said for sure that Anthony and Kate will appear in the upcoming fourth instalment. However, their contribution to the narrative might be diminished to a large extent.

It is a well-known fact that the Netflix show has rearranged the order of the source material for the sake of its adaptation as a teleplay. This is evident from the show's creative decision to bring forward the romance between Colin and Penelope, an episode that takes place much later in the books. Author Julia Quinn had previously revealed in an Instagram post that Kate and Anthony are still residing in India when the events of the upcoming season unfold, including the grand masquerade ball, which explains their absence.

As reported by Swoon, 'An Offer From A Gentleman' begins with Benedict and Sophie's conversation two years after Anthony and Kate went away to India. The latter couple, by that point, are still expecting their first child. As a gesture of goodwill, Violet Bridgerton announced that she would be moving out of Bridgerton House and passing it over to Anthony and Kate for them to raise their children, who were born soon after and named Edmund and Miles. Before she leaves, Violet throws a farewell party in the form of a masquerade ball, and both Anthony and Kate attend this. This was the same ball wherein Benedict and Sophie first crossed paths, alluding to the 'Cinderella' inspired tale.

Therefore, while it does seem like Anthony and Kate might be missing from most of the action on 'Bridgerton' season four, the couple wouldn't be absent from the show. This was further confirmed by Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony, when he revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that, "I was filming a wedding on a Monday morning." The star was quick to add, "People know that people get married in Bridgerton, that’s not a spoiler, right?" The first part of 'Bridgerton' season four arrives on Netflix on January 29, followed by the second part releasing on February 26, 2026.
