CBS has finally dropped the official trailer for ‘Y: Marshals’, the ‘Yellowstone’ spin-off focusing on Kayce Dutton. In the trailer shared, Luke Grimes can be seen reprising his role as Kayce Dutton. However, one major character was nowhere to be seen in the trailer of the ‘Yellowstone’ spin-off. Soon after the trailer was released, the fans quickly noticed that Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille) was missing. Throughout the five seasons of the fan-favourite show ‘Yellowstone,’ the viewers got to take a closer look at the relationship between Kayce and Monica. According to TV Insider, the duo’s relationship even caused tension between Kayce and his father, John Dutton (Kevin Costner), in ‘Yellowstone’ Season 1. Eventually, Kayce, Monica, and their teenage son, Tate (Brecken Merrill), got their happy ending in the final season of ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5.

Now,  Asbille’s absence from the trailer has raised eyebrows among the fans. At the moment, several viewers are wondering whether Asbille’s character, Monica, will be killed in ‘Y: Marshals.’ One social media user stopped by the comments section and wrote, “Am I the only one thinking Monica has been murdered cause it seems to be the only thing I could think of that would drive Kayce to walk away from the life he wanted to build at the end of Yellowstone, a life without the badge, just ranching in East Camp.” Followed by a second user who penned, “I’m excited for this, but I cannot imagine not having the character of Monica involved. We’ve got Tate, Rainwater, but no Monica, it’s odd to say the least, and disappointing, but… I’m hoping for the best.”

Another netizen echoed the same sentiments by writing, “Hope we get a little Monica in our lives!”A user commented, “I believe Kayce and Monica finally put the events of Yellowstone behind them and created their own legacy until an unfortunate event killed Monica, and Kayce joined the Marshals to bring down those responsible. He also mentioned his brothers Lee and Jamie. I think Kayce figured out Jamie is dead and Beth was responsible for it and is estranged from her for it.” A fan remarked, “Counting the minutes till March, I wanna know what happened to Monica, and what impact it has on Tate.”

Along with Kayce, the stars returning for ‘Y: Marshals’ include Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, and Brecken Merrill. On the other hand, newcomers include Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Logan Marshall-Green, and Brett Cullen. As per Deadline, the official synopsis for ‘Y: Marshals’ reads, “With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Kayce Dutton (Grimes) joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.” In case you’re wondering, ‘Y: Marshals’ is set to premiere on March 1, 2026, on CBS.
