LONDON, ENGLAND: Mercedes Lynne Northup experiences a nervous breakdown in London, questioning her relationship with Zach Shallcross. When 'The Bachelor' goes to London this week, girls are beginning to rethink their connection with the lead.

During the February 13 episode of 'The Bachelor,' a promo for the following week showed the women finally getting into a nice rhythm after the recent turbulence. They're in London, they're going on lovely dates, and "nothing's gonna stop us from having such an amazing week," Zach added. This definitely suggests that something will prevent them from having such an amazing week. A sneak peek from the upcoming episode reveals one of the contestants having a complete meltdown, and we'll reveal why.

Charity Lawson feels for Mercedes

Mercedes hasn't been seen much after the first night, when the 24-year-old non-profit case manager arrived with a lovely pig called Henry. She's gone on group dates after group dates, and while she keeps getting roses, she hasn't had any screen time with our Bachelor.

This takes us to the new episode on Monday. The women arrive in London and hear that terrible knock on the door. It's the date card! "I would love to not hear my name on that group date card," Mercedes says as Kat Izzo rushes to the hallway to get the card from the Accent Table of Doom. "I would be really happy."

Yet, as luck would have it, Mercedes hears her name on the group date card and bursts into tears before Kat has finished reading the rest of the names. "Sorry," she adds, breaking down in tears. "I'm gonna hyperventilate. I can't!" Mercedes then exits the room to settle herself. Kylee Russell, who had her own problems on the group date the week before, runs after her to console her.

"Mercedes is having a moment right now," Charity Lawson confesses. "She is reacting pretty heavily to her not getting the one-on-one date. I feel for her. I just wasn't expecting it to be this hard for her."

Mercedes believes that half the other girls going on the group date had the opportunity to go on a one-on-one date with Zach but her. This caused her to reconsider her connection with him.

Who gets a one-on-one date with Zach in London?

Reality Steve has revealed that Gabi Elnicki received the sole one-on-one date in London before Zach tested positive, however, he is unsure whether Gabi became ill. This would not be Covid's first interruption of The Bachelor/ette. Logan Palmer departed the show during Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey's season after testing positive. There was skepticism at the time regarding whether it was actually the cause for his exit, but he addressed the conspiracy theories during an appearance on 'Talking It Out with Bachelor Nation'.

Covid has also had an impact on the show's format in recent seasons, such as limiting travel or postponing the start of Clare Crawley's Bachelorette season, which has a knock-on effect on the rest of the series. 'The Bachelor' 2023 airs on Mondays at 8 pm on ABC.
