This week's episode of 'Survivor 50,' titled 'Double The Fun, Double The Demise,' lived up to its name as two torches were snuffed at the Tribal Council. The episode, released on April 15, featured 13 contestants after Dee's exit last week. They were split into six teams of two before the immunity challenge. The teams were Jonathan and Christian, Rizo and Emily, Coach and Chrissy, Joe and Tiffany, Devens and Aubry, and Ozzy and Stephenie. An odd number of castaways meant that one contestant would be on the outs, and that was Cirie. Host Jeff Probst told the teams that their fates were intertwined before revealing the game-changing twist: All players will vote individually at the Tribal Council, but they will vote a pair out of the game. Additionally, only one member from each team can play an Idol or Shot in the Dark to ensure the safety of both members. After a high-stakes double elimination, Coach and Chrissy were voted out 10–1–1.

In Episode 8 of 'Survivor 50,' Cirie ended up without a partner, but she was given immunity from this week's elimination. Instead of taking part in the immunity challenge, she was sent to Exile Island to compete in her own task: a coconut quest. Cirie had to find one coconut with a phoenix symbol from a sea of 2,000 coconuts in the allotted time. After a rough start, she managed to find the right one in time and returned to camp to vote at the Tribal Council.

Joe and Tiffany won the immunity challenge, which saw the contestants tackle an obstacle course, a table maze, and a bridge puzzle. The duo was treated to a spaghetti dinner at a makeshift Club Condo and was safe from elimination. But the players quickly started strategizing. Emily gunned for Coach and Chrissy to break up their alliance with Stephenie, Jonathan, and Joe. Ozzy's heart was set on Devens and Aubry, but Cirie convinced him to go for Coach and Chrissy instead by pointing out, "You can knock the middle out whenever. When you gonna get Chrissy and Coach at one time?"

Elsewhere, Joe spoke to Rizo about targeting his in-game nemesis, Devens. Aware of the target on his back, Devens played his (fake) idol card before the vote-out, which flipped the game on its head. He claimed earlier in the season that he had hidden an idol at Tribal Council. When Stephenie asked to see it in this episode, Devens pretended to search for the non-existent idol on set, leaving everyone flummoxed. The move worked in his favor, though, as people considering voting him out were forced to change their plans at the last minute.

Ultimately, Devens didn't play his idol during the vote-out, but Coach used his Shot in the Dark to save himself and Chrissy, but it read "Not Safe." As the votes were read out, Jonathan seemed to be the only one to vote against Aubry and Devens, while the rest voted for Chrissy and Coach. So, the self-professed 'Dragonslayer' and his 'Dragonslayer whisperer' were sent home in one swift move. 'Survivor 50' airs at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesdays on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
