‘Scream 7’: Here's when you can expect Neve Campbell’s hit slasher film to stream on Paramount+
The Ghostface killer is slashing his way to the big screen this week as 'Scream 7' is slated to release in theaters on February 27. After failing to kill Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott on multiple occasions, the bloodthirsty killer has now set his sights on her daughter, Tatum. But will he succeed? Fans will have to flock to the theaters this week to know the answer. But what about people who want to enjoy the slasher from the comfort of their homes? How long will they have to wait for 'Scream 7' to release on a streaming platform? Although no official release date has been announced, we offer our best estimate below.
As 'Scream 7' is just gearing up for its theatrical release, it will take a few months for the movie to become available for streaming. Past trends suggest that the mystery-thriller will arrive on Paramount Plus, much like earlier films from the franchise. Paramount has a track record of streaming its latest releases about 45 to 60 days after the title's theatrical release. Notably, 'Scream VI' landed on streaming 46 days after its release on the big screen, ahead of its Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) release for digital renting and buying. If the next installment follows the same model, 'Scream 7' will start streaming from April 14 onwards, and PVOD options will become available a fortnight later on April 30.
The upcoming slasher film is the seventh installment in the popular film franchise and is a sequel to 2023's 'Scream VI.' Guy Busick wrote the screenplay for 'Scream 7' from a story he co-wrote with James Vanderbilt. Kevin Williamson took on the directing duties from Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who helmed the last two films in the franchise. Neve Campbell returns to the film series after skipping the previous title, and fans are excited to see her taking on Ghostface again.
As per the film's official synopsis, Sidney Prescott has built a new life for herself but must confront her past after a new Ghostface killer targets her daughter. The film features returning cast members Jasmin Savoy Brown, David Arquette, Mason Gooding, Matthew Lillard, and Courteney Cox, alongside Campbell. Additionally, Isabel May joins the cast as Tatum, Anna Camp as Jessica Bowden, Asa Germann as Lucas Bowden, Michelle Randolph as Madison, Mark Consuelos as Robbie Rivers, and Joel McHale as Mark Evans. Jimmy Tatro, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O'Connor, Sam Rechner, and Tim Simons round out the film's cast.
