‘The Challenge’ 42 earlier featured two eliminations, as Team Blue members Cedric Hodges and Reilly Smedley were sent packing. Episode 3 focused on the following team captains: Cory and Nurys for Team Gray, Deb and Bananas for Team Orange, and Brad and Lete for Team Blue. The episode titled 'Keep My Name Out Your Mouth' started with a Boat Swap challenge. The game began with three floating docks, one for each team. Each dock had three white boats and three colored ones. “And your goal is to swap those boats from one side to the other as fast as you can. The team to get it the fastest will lead today’s challenge and will be the only safe team,” announced the host, T.J. Lavin. He added, “Today, the men are on the chopping block.”

Team Orange won the challenge, with Team Gray in second place, and Team Blue in third place. As a result, Bananas and Deb were in charge in the upcoming arena. Notably, Team Gray captains (Cory and Nurys) had to nominate one teammate, and the rest of the team had to choose another contestant for the nomination. The players picked for the nomination were Keanu and Leo. In the nomination arena, the winning captains chose Keanu from Team Gray and Brad from the losing Team Blue.

The host introduced the elimination challenge, called Winning Numbers. The game involved a massive climbing grid with some numbers in the arena. During the task, after the host announced a particular number, Brad and Keanu had to race up the wall to hit the button of their color and score a point.

Keanu won 7-1 against Brad. As a result, Brad from Team Blue was eliminated from ‘The Challenge’ 42 and became the third participant to be sent home. “That did not go according to plan. I felt good going into it. Keanu definitely played a very physical game out there. Tonight he came out on top,” stated Brad. For the next week, the Captains will be Will and Izzy for Team Orange, Leo and Cassidy for Team Gray, and Cara Maria and Nelson for Team Blue.
