PALMDALE, CALIFORNIA: In honor of America's strangest, craziest, and wackiest houses for sale, HGTV presents 'Zillow Gone Wild', inspired by the popular Instagram account @ZillowGoneWild and hosted by actor and comedian Jack McBrayer. As soon as Jack is revealed as the host, fans demand that the creator of the original Instagram account, Samir Mezrahi, be invited as the guest host.

Any HGTV viewer is familiar with the shabby and rundown, but the channel's newest show concentrates on the unusual. 'Zillow Gone Wild' will take you through the wackiest properties on the market (similar to browsing through your favorite real estate app, but much more up close and personal), with the objective of identifying the oddest property of all.

The program was first inspired by the Instagram account @zillowgonewild, which has 1.9 million followers and highlights images of the most interesting items on the app. Now, actor and comedian Jack will host HGTV's television version, taking viewers on extended tours of the most unusual residences.

Following its social media success (1.9 million Instagram followers), HGTV offered Samir a show on their network. According to Loren Ruch, HGTV's president of programming, the show will provide viewers with a firsthand look at these lavish residences.

As HGTV took to Instagram to unveil their host, fans took to the comment section, to write, "Just had to double check that this wasn’t posted on April 1." While another person chimed in, "We want Samir."

One user further wrote, "Okay but if @samir isn’t a guest host I’m not watching. A fourth person suggested, "he could show up at the end of episodes and say he's happy to have him."

While addressing Samir, one person noted, "You’d be a perfect host for this show!" An angry fan asked, "How tf is @samir not hosting this...."

One user wondered, "I’m sure he’s nice but why can’t @samir be the host. Who else can explain potato sheds like him?" "@hgtv we need some @samir episodes. or a rundown on each house," wrote another.

Some comments also read, "I need to see @samir on this show OR ELSE." Another user added, "I'm not excited about the host. @samir #potatoshed."

What is 'Zillow Gone Wild' all about?

Jack, well known for his Emmy-nominated performance in '30 Rock', will welcome viewers to accompany him on tours of outlandish, one-of-a-kind properties that sellers place on the market every day. Everyone enjoys scrolling endlessly through the many beautiful residences for sale online.

But he's on a quest to uncover the stories behind America's oddest and most unique homes. Jack wants to meet the proprietors and, more importantly, see what's inside.

Throughout the season, 'Zillow Gone Wild' will highlight the individuals who have embraced non-traditional houses with their original decor and creative architecture, as well as demonstrate creative ways to promote a unique property. In nine weekly episodes, the show will delve into the fascinating backstories of the buyers and sellers, as well as the distinct histories of each house.

Each habitation will be rated based on factors like inventiveness, devotion to the topic, and distinctive characteristics. During the season finale, HGTV will name one of the "wildest" of them all.

Who is Samir Mezrahi?

Samir created the social media page Zillow Gone Wild. He was born and reared in Tulsa but relocated to California for a few years, where he developed an interest in housing.

Samir eventually returned to his native state, where he studied and obtained his degree from the University of Oklahoma. Following his college experience, Samir relocated to New York City and worked as an accountant.

He eventually moved on to work at Buzzfeed, where he combined his passion for houses and design with his skills to develop Zillow Gone Wild. Samir spoke with Tulsa World about how he got started.

He noted, "In the deep pandemic times, a lot of companies were telling their workers they could work from home, which meant more people were on their phones scrolling TikTok or Instagram. One thing I like to do is browse Zillow, and I thought a lot of people might also like to do that, too."
