'The Masked Singer' Season 14 gets to the business end, with more contestants unmasked in the latest episode, 'Ozzfest Night'. One of the major talking points is the identity of Pangolin, who returned to croon to rock icon, Ozzy Osborne's 'Mama, I'm Coming Home.' Panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora, along with host Nick Cannon, were in awe as Pangolin swept the audience with her stunning performance. The contestant was introduced on Red, White & Clue Night as a Wild Card, performing 'Ironic' by Alanis Morissette.
The series of clues that followed led to multiple names being thrown on the table, but the closest is singer Rachel Platten. Leading up to her performance in Episode 9, Pangolin revealed how Osborne was her inspiration to follow her heart. According to multiple reports, the sentiment mirrors her soundtrack, 'Fight Song' (2014). Platten wrote the song when he was a struggling musician, and the song became a viral sensation upon its debut. It held the top spot on the Billboard Adult Top 40 for over 6 weeks and reached No. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Other major clues from her first performance included the fact that she comes from a sports-obsessed family, and she was honored with the title of 'Halftime Queen'. The second has a kettlebell with a heart on it. She confessed about how fame 'pulled her in different directions' and later added another tease with 'Diamond' when she said, "I’ve hit plenty of milestones, but this one truly shimmered," possibly referring to co-writing singer Angelina Jordan's track of the same name. Panelists' guesses so far have been Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, and Christina Perri.
While much is pure guesswork at the time of writing, there is a strong possibility that 'The Masked Singer season 14's Pangolin might be Platten. That said, whoever is behind the mask has dished out some sensational performances worthy of a final spot.
